Meat pole 2014

Thanks Guys!

Congrats to everyone who has put good meat in the freezer and some bone on the wall.

I hope to see some more successes...good luck everyone!

Nice bulls (Especially Arrows4elk)! 4 straight days of chasing elk.  Day 1 (Friday) was unreal, 4 bulls within 50 yards.  3 brought in with the Matriarch cow call and 1 bugle/challenged in.  Day 2 and 3 we did not hear a bugle and changed our location for our day 4 afternoon hunt.  We were luckless and elkless until 6 pm that day (Monday) when suddenly we were surrounded by bugles.  A spike rolled in at about that time and after shooing him away this guy appeared at the bottom of the hill.  A few cow calls and he was broadside at 15 yards and my neigbor and I were packin!

I took pic of 3 , 6 points a 7 point and 2 ,5 points before this little guy got suicidal and jumped in front of my arrow.Made for a fun day of hunting with that much action, 6 bulls bugling at the same time.

shot this bull three days before the hunt ended, hit him in the paunch and was unable to find him. Went back the next week and found him(smelled him) dealt with the fish and game for two weeks before they let me go get his head. Sucks I didn't get any meat!

Nice bull!  And, the first lady we've seen with an elk down if I'm not mistaken.  Looks like you were able to get a truck right up there next to him.... no packing makes everyone happy  ;D ;D

Congrats!

Yeah it was great , I had a buddy that can get a truck into some stuff. It was nice. My mom and I had this bull at 70 yards last year . Just too much wind we could not close. And then I got him on trail cam pics this year and was in a hock when he stepped out in front of her. Awesome !!!

Here's a photo my buddy took of me and my Idaho bull this year. I always take time to pay my respect to the animal and it was pretty cool that my buddy (he's a pro photographer in case you can't tell - Jay Beyer credit) was able to capture the moment for me.
