I took this short vid in 2012 after I had tagged out.
Lets say that this is a legal elk where you hunt and you are interested and excited about the opportunity of taking a shot.

Can you make it? Will you make it?

I would if I had the gun up, and the sights on him at 23 seconds. It\'s the only shot I liked. Lots of frontal shots for those who like them.

IMO he never stops or looks relaxed enough for a frontal shot. He gets to walk.

I agree, He is alert and just outside my range to try a frontal. If he turned a little at the shot it wouldn\'t be good. Of course you would have to be at full draw already or it wouldn\'t even be a thought to shoot. You would be busted the minute you tried to draw.

This bull gives a couple of frontal opportunities, but it looks to me like you will have to hold your bow back for a couple minutes at the very least.
This complicates the shot further, even though it is close. toward the end of the encounter the bull is also fully alert. Taking all of this into consideration. I am opting to pass.

I agree with the others, pass on him. He never presents a good shot plus at the end he is nervous and alert.

Man, so I am a little torn.

A lot of you talk about how effective the frontal shot is and he is definitely within distance for it. (for the sake of this I am guessing he is 15-18 yards yards?)
He was behind a tree. I am drawing at 1:16-1:17 and shooting somewhere during the time he stops from 1:23-1:30.
He\'s too close and my bow is too fast for him to move before he even hears my string snap.

I would have shot him when he was stopped and slightly quartering to me. There was room to send an arrow behind the near front leg, and there was plenty of time to make the shot. Minute 1:06.

I didn\'t see an opportunity for me. I would probably had been drawn and held on him for awhile but nothing I felt comfortable with.

I might have attempted to draw when he was coming in behind the trees at about 1:20. At 1:27 he looks to his right and opens up a beautiful frontal shot opportunity.

Whether I shoot or not depends on the range...it would have to be under 20 yards for me. 15 or less would be better
