Seems pretty high though, doesn\'t it? I mean some of those marks are over Alan\'s head. I have to assume Alan isn\'t five feet tall, right? Kind of do look like bite marks, but that is a ways up in the air... :dk:
On a separate note, great idea mtnmutt and great posts Dan! This thread is going to fuel the fire for me over the next few months...

I am so fired up for this year. I should have taken more pictures, but it was so beautiful up there.
I just am SO antsy to pull those cameras and see what I have moving around......
I might get a little \"picky\" depending on what I see....
I also can\'t wait to name them![]()

I\'m the same way Dan...planning on getting some cameras up in June or July. I have such an itch to get up there, but with all the snow we have been getting I don\'t even know if I could get to our area right now.

Well... in my mind it was deadly grizzly bears and cougars and they were stalking me while I scouted....

I spent most of my time around 10,000-10,500 ft and ran into lots of snow drifts towards the higher end of that. This was a brand new area to me and the drifts made the hard to follow an old loggers trail that I had found on Google earth, we\'ll be back in a few weeks after more of the snow melts. All in all, was a great day in the mtns with the pup!

\"Olympushunt\" said:My scouting trip wasn\'t nearly as productive as Dan\'s but I got some hiking in. The snow was out of where I was which is unusual for this early. I was in Oregon. lol....I am way more paranoid/secretive than anyone I know. I was close to where I posted that picture with all those cow elk in one camera shot. This area has always confused me. I was trying to find an area the bulls hang out in more frequently but I didn\'t see anything making me want to deposit a camera. It looks elky and there is sparse poop sightings. I know only a half mile from the corridor I was in the elk hit pretty hard but I wanted to find a transition zone between where they feed and bed. I struck out. That\'s part of the game though. In 100 scouting trips if 95 are a bust I am happy....happy to get 5 great looking spots to hunt. I figure I am just paying dues. This is a shot of the only spot I considered dropping a cam.
\"otcWill\" said:All of my scouting so far this year has been at low elevations as everything I usually hunt is under 20ft of snow. I have been able to turn up some pretty elky spots though. Rubzilla, right here  I\'m 6\'4\", have a monkey arms, and there are branches broken off 2\' over my reach.
