Shoot from your knees

I used to setup on my knees when we'd blind call in an area.  I don't anymore for a couple of reasons. 1- the knees aren't what they used to be! My legs would be too fatigued and hurt big time.  2 - I was unable to get a shot on a NICE bull because I was on my knees.  It made it to where I couldn't move.  How many timeshas an elk come into the call and not been exactly where you thought he'd be.  Being mobile to maneuver for a shot is critical!

I make a point of shoot from a kneeling position, with one knee on the ground and with two knees on the ground, as well as from a sitting position all summer long wether shooting at a bag or a 3D course.

One of the keys here is kneeling on rocks and tree roots long enough to make your leg go numb and trying to move without getting  busted by a cow while waiting for that bull to pop out. I find it is great to try shooting from my knees as often as possible but it is hard to duplicate the exact scenario we get into sometimes while out in the field.

Haven't practiced from my knees, but when I get dialed in standing up I will definitely be practicing from different positions.

I carry some camo knee pads, that help tremendously on rough ground. I got them for turkey hunting, but can certainly be used for bigger game.

My partner and I have fun when practicing shooting.  Try calling crazy shots and positions to make it interesting.  Ever tried laying down and shooting?  Never know that could be next.

Seems like I shoot from my knees the majority of the time on elk as well as other estern game. My buddy and I practice shooting like that year-round.

I like to shoot from my knees because I feel more concealed but have ran into issues with it as well not being able to adjust my body as easy.

I have yet to shoot an elk from any other position, whether it be one or both.  Most of the setups I find myself in lend themselves to that shooting position.  I also prefer practicing that way as much as possible, especially for longer range.  I find my base is much more solid when I'm only a few feet off the ground versus standing.

I've killed 3 elk and a mulie from my knees and 1 elk, a mule deer and a whitetail in a standing position. i'm just as comfortable shooting either way. I've always started from a standing position and only went down to the knees to find shooting lanes. it's much easier to reposition when standing than from your knees.

I shoot a lil better from my knees. It seems like i get a lot steadier. I could just be tricking myself though.
