Bought elk point for CO and will hunt otc archery elk. Will put in for ID moose for the first time. Not much of a chance but would be killer if i drew.

Right now fighting back issues. Start therapy Thursday. After that alot of hiking mainly.

Get in shape and don't get mentally discouraged. Elk hunting is a tough mental game. Especially for people like me from the east. Just stay positive and never give up!

Applied to Montana this year. For mule deer though.  I am a Maine guy, little bit of a hall for me.

Preparing by doing more cardio for exercise with less lifting.  Mapping online too.

Not one to give advice on something I know little about,  but just soak in as much knowledge as you can.  From podcast, to books.

I applied for my second point in Colorado and will be returning there to hunt an otc unit. Really excited just to have boots on the ground in elk county. If you have the will and fitness you can hike deep enough into any otc unit and go for days not seeing another hunter.

I am most excited to call in a bull and have that vocal interaction.

I applied for Elk, Deer, & Pronghorn in CO.
It'll be a couple years till I get one, but looking forward to Elk.

This season, I'm looking forward to an OTC elk hunt in CO and possibly a bear hunt in NC in the fall.

For preparation there is the art of learning to call elk and the physical training to put in a position to interact with elk.  I watch all Corey Jacobson videos and try to mirror his calling. 3 days a week of weighted backpack cardio.

In prep for season, getting gear consolidated and selling some unused/old stuff to make room for the new stuff!

Called this bull in last year as a rookie with a Rocky Mountain bugle tube and the green all-star diaphragm.
