Welcome to the site, Rick!
Great bunch of guys around here and we love having more deer hunters around!

Thanks, Dan.

Yes... You have to go to Kansas for big deer. There are none left in Oklahoma. :)

What part of OK are you from?
Did you draw any controlled hunts this year?

Oklahoma has been very good to me ;)

Good to see ya here Rick! Big deer? Got a text from my buddy in IL yesterday, said he saw 14 bucks together last night. All would make PnY and one was pushing 170 with 6-8 weeks left to grow! I\'m counting the days till November.. This property wasn\'t hunted at all last year and only myself and two friends have access. :upthumb: How much do y\'all think the big guy could still grow?

Will,

Was that 170 including the velvet? Don\'t forget how deceiving the velvet can be.
Where I hunt, I see the growth stop around 3-4th week of July, so he has a LOT of time to still grow.

Velvet can be a pain in the butt.
I had this guy pegged to be 125-128\" hard horned, but there is no telling how much they will lose. He came in only at 118\"

I was bummed because I was hoping it\'s squeeze in at P&Y.

Then we had brutus....

We had him pegged at 165-170 hard horned (based off velvet pics)
Before shrinkage he was 162, post 158 1/8, net 156 7/8.

Dan - Rick and I hunted together in Oklahoma. The big deer you saw a while back was in an area we hunted together. He\'s a stone cold killer for sure and you can learn a lot from him about hunting whitetails. Probably the most tactical/ analytical person I\'ve ever hunted around. Glad your here buddy, you\'ll definitely be a solid contributor to the site.

Welcome Rick. :upthumb:

I checked my trail cams this morning and have not had a single buck on them yet. I\'m a little bumbed out.

Me and my wife did see on that was a easy 150 all ready. Really nice buck for this far north and two months to grow yet.

Unless your buck wants to migrate out west to where I am.... ;)

Check your PM for the answer. :upthumb:
I have slowly been learning the importance of secrecy on the internet hunting forums. It\'s a fantastic area though.
It\'s a place where a lot of you on this site would flourish and do very well.
It\'s a hard area to hunt, but with some leg work/scouting, hard hunting, and some skill..... the results are very pleasing.

Dan, 170 is what my buddy reported and he knows his stuff. Found his shed from last year, 89 inches with a palmate end chewed off. Bomber for sure! Glad to be talkn some whities on here!

Well, I believe it too then! If I have learned anything, it\'s you know your stuff and if you trust someone, then it\'s probably spot on!
I\'ve also learned that when you set your mind on something, you make it happen, so I am excited to see this 170\" dead here in November....
Best of luck, Will!

I have my eyes set on a few 150s and mid 140s this year.

I am also hoping a this buck will explode this year.....or the next.

He\'s a young buck and has some potential.... I DONT THINK ANYONE KILLED HIM....

Dan... I tried opening your message and nothing happened. It just showed a title.. \"Nearest town\". Am I missing something? Maybe a secret to opening PMs?

Let me send it again. :dance2:
