Dan, 170 is what my buddy reported and he knows his stuff. Found his shed from last year, 89 inches with a palmate end chewed off. Bomber for sure! Glad to be talkn some whities on here!

Well, I believe it too then! If I have learned anything, it\'s you know your stuff and if you trust someone, then it\'s probably spot on!
I\'ve also learned that when you set your mind on something, you make it happen, so I am excited to see this 170\" dead here in November....
Best of luck, Will!

I have my eyes set on a few 150s and mid 140s this year.

I am also hoping a this buck will explode this year.....or the next.

He\'s a young buck and has some potential.... I DONT THINK ANYONE KILLED HIM....

Kind words my friend. The feeling\'s mutual. Actually, there\'s not a guy on this thread I wouldn\'t hunt with.

Now I am antsy to go look at my cameras out in Oklahoma haha

Thanks guys. I had suppressed my whitetail excitement thinking about elk, but seeing Rick\'s buck..... oh my lanta.... I have a whitetail FIRE lit under me today.

Holy SMOKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a MONSTER BUCK!!!! ABSOLUTELY a STUD!!!!!!!!
Congrats on a buck of a lifetime.....

Aaron showed me a picture of a buck you two were chasing.... MY GOODNESS, you guys practice some great QDM.

Are these public land or private land deer?

That\'s also a BEAUTIFUL mount.... did someone in Oklahoma do that?

Yep, it\'s private land. Around 1200 acres. I took it over in 2008 and made it bow only. I also limited the hunters to six. We don\'t invade it much in the off season. There\'s a 200 acre no hunt zone in the central portion. We don\'t plant crops or run feeders. Everything is pretty natural. We are going to mow a little around the field edges this season although to promote new growth. Also in areas were there is volunteer clover that pops up every spring and will again in September if it\'s mowed.

Before I took it over in 2008, it was hunted too hard and in all seasons. The guy that was \"managing\" it was too liberal (imo) and let wives and kids hunt with a lease member. So, in turn the young bucks were getting killed. Along with many does. The age structure and herd dynamics are about right as of now. Probably 3/4 does to every buck.

As for the big buck that Aaron showed you guys, his name is Elvis. Haven\'t seen him since that photo. We can hope that he\'s still alive. He is a giant.

Well it seems as if you guys do a fantastic job practicing QDM out there, keep it up :upthumb:
It\'s even better you aren\'t doing it over a feeder.

No disrespect to those who do it, but it\'s just not my cup of tea.
I like keeping the hunt as natural as possible with the chase.

By the way... The guy that mounted that deer does a ton of mounts of all varieties. His name is Rick Bergren out of Oklahoma. He was doing an elephant the first time I was there. All types of exotics and about anything you can mount, he does it. Although, he\'s gotten so busy with contracts and other business that he is turning down most whitetails nowadays. Had to find a new taxidermist and fortunately found a good one, not far from where I live.

Welcome Rick, happy to have you aboard! I too am always ready to talk whitetails! I haven\'t been checking the deer hunting threads lately. Shame on me!

Will, one thing at a time now! You have all of Oct. to get excited for Nov! But I see now how its done. Hunt elk and have your buddies in Ill. do the work gettin\' ready for deer. (stands, cameras, making trails, etc.) I need more buddies!

Welcome Rick. I have been to Norman many times for work. We have a few deer here in Iowa too.

I am waiting for game camera pictures.... ;)

I cant wait to check my camera out in Nebraska.
Looking at my hunt/fish calendar, I just dont know if I will get out there before October!!!

I may have to make a \'sick\' day trip mid-week sometime

Im thinking there is gonna be a couple \'smokers\' with their pic taken tho!

Welcome Rick! I\'ve got my lifetime OK hunting license if you need any does or hogs thinned out! I think the Jan1-15 is a good time for both.

Thanks, Russ. Holler at me towards the end ode year. Per rules that I put in place, I can\'t let you hunt deer but definitely hunt hogs in February and March. It\'ll be spot and stalk type hunting, no guarantees. I killed 8 last year and was never actually hunting them. Here\'s one...

That\'s a monster hog!!!! Nice shooting :upthumb:
That is actually a mid size hog for down there. 115-130 lbs. This one now was a bruiser and right at 190lbs. Killed him at less than 5 yards. I just put a new stand up where I witnessed does cutting through. I didn\'t see a deer, but this guy made it fun when he came through at last light. He actually stopped on his own because he smelled where I had parked the truck just hours earlier. Man, he let out some blood curdling squeals! Died less than 100 yards away.

MONSTER!!!!

Rick,
The sounds they make send chills up my spine.
I was walking a low creek bed after the sun had just gone down and then I heard this growling like I\'ve never heard before....
It was for sure some hogs and they were NOT pleased by either my smell or presence...

That was the day I decided I would start conceal carrying out there.
