Made it to Nebraska today.
Got my stand set and retrieved my game cam.
I set the cam in early June and only had a 2gb card in it.

It wasn\'t enough. It was full a month ago.
Plenty of battery life tho.

I had over 600 pics of deer and turkey.
Night time pics sucked.

Some of the bucks were oooooohhhhh laaaaa Laaaaaaa!

Checked on another stand and bumped 2 deer there so I went back to the stand / cam spot I call WT1.

It\'s a great spot

The magic hour arrived and 2 does crossed about 50 yards away.
They were by those 3 trees in the pic above.

A bit later a spike came right under my tree.
I will have him on my trail cam with vid mode but I also took a movie of him too

I thought that was pretty cool.
And not long after that I see a deer coming the same way the spike did.

And it had antlers!!! A 7 point!!!
I nocked up just in case he grew :)

As it came closer it also crossed in front of my game cam.

He didn\'t grow. But he was a nice buck for public land.
So I got my camera out and took a vid of him too

Here is a frame pic of the movie.

So why is this called The IF deer hunt?

Well that was an IF buck.

IF I woulda shot him I be done.
He was that IF size

The only reason I didn\'t shoot him was the pics I got on trail cam because IF one of them come by....

Whack!

It\'s great to remember Nebraska whitetail hunts while you tell your story.

An old friend from Nebraska (who has shared a ton of similar hunts with me) made a quick trip out last night and we had a great time remembering hunts like this. Good timing, Brad.

Glad to help the memories John!

In stand again this morning. A big spiker snuck up behind me a bit ago. No chance for video

Beautiful morning.

sounds like it was a good time. I really enjoyed when I hunted out in Nebraska. There are some big bodied and big antlered deer there.

No shots taken this morning.
Did see another doe off in the distance.

I am pleased with the spot. I cleared a couple more branches when I left so all should be good now.

I didn\'t get the deer on game cam video last night.
Some dumb a$$ forgot to turn on it on....

It\'s all set now tho !

The stuff you find in the river bottoms of Nebraska.
My hunt got distracted

might be time to find a new area.

That would mean leaving Nebraska. In Nebraska, you\'ll find \"ditch weed\" everywhere. It\'s an amazingly tough weed.

Now, there\'s an upside ... dove hunting in ditch weed can be blast. In early September, the doves love to find stands of marijuana along fence lines, pivot corners, etc.

And they are happy doves.

Shooting doves over marijuana is considered unsporting in some circles because they just don\'t turn the after-burners on like other doves.

I, on the other hand, had no qualms about it.

Brad ... are you camping in your truck, a tent, or just turning around 3 times and curling up like a dog?

Right now I just finished a burger and a beer.
Soon it will be nite nite in the back of my truck.
