TurkeyFest 2018....KANSAS

Everyone is officially in camp!

Yesterday was super windy, so birds couldn?t hear us and we couldn?t hear them.  Terry and I did some serious exploring though and ended up finding a bunch of sheds, seeing some hens, and we found some.... elk!

Go get 'em guys!

Dan, what do you or Tim suspect got the deer? Do they have much for predators there other than coyotes?

To be honest we don?t know.  He was a young buck. Could have been shot on a different property and died over here, preds, etc.  we have coyotes here and that?s about it

It was a beautiful morning out.

I had 19 deer run by me at about 50 yard.  That was VERY cool!

Good luck, Dan! North Dakota opens this weekend I have a serious itch!!! My wife was kind enough to schedule a haircut appointment on opening day so I have to leave the blind early to watch the kid.  :ill:  unless.... One year old's can turkey hunt too, right?

Good luck to you guys on your North Dakota openers!

The wind has been kicking our behinds. Yesterday was just nothing but crazy high gusts. Of all of us out we only saw a total of 7 jakes and a few hens.

We spent most of our time just relaxing and telling bunting stories.

Something I thought was pretty neat was the 30 deer I saw yesterday morning on my setup.  At one point I had 20 of them pass in front of me in the same group.  It was a rush! That?s a lot of deer.

Today is already off to a better start though, so I?ll save that for later

Yesterday turned out to be another extremely windy day.

We still had a ball exploring though

Tim always gets us permission to hunt on numerous properties each year.  So last year he had the great idea of basically paying them back with what we call ?land owner night?. Invited all the land owners over for dinner and cooked up some delicious meals.

Francis cooked up some amazing fried fish, I grilled some elk burgers and antelope brats, and Tim?s wife made some AMAZING desserts.  It was a great time and the land owners loved it.
