What did you do today....

Congrats on the new truck Scot!

Today was arms, jump roping, practiced turkey and elk calling and shot my bow.

Today I picked up a cable for my son\'s bow that I got re-served.
Got it on the bow, timed it, got the arrow rest pull cord tied back in.
Then he wanted the draw length increased so I put it back in the press, increased his DL and put it back together.
But the cable was twisting the arrow rest cord as tension was increased, I put it back in the press and then I decided to take out the pull cord but my tie job was pretty good and as I tried to cut it apart, I cut the cable... *&%(&$$&^#^&#!!!! :(

So, then I got out his spare cable, put that back on, timed the bow again, and this time I used the clamp for the arrow rest pull cord.
Just got done shooting it, all is good

Now I need to order a cable....

Good Lord. What a mess.

Today, I\'ll exercise, but the wind here is cranking at 20+ ... so probably won\'t be shooting my Nockturnals that came in the mail yesterday. I am going to put them on some arrows, though, and see how they fit.

Then ... I\'ll work on work, I guess. Not much more prep work today.

Well the good news is I am going with an old buddy of mine from Somalia way back in the day.

We have been chatting daily on getting dinners together as well as him wanting a new bow. I start my bow review soon, so he is going to buy one of them. I am going to drive my little Hyundai Sonata to Colorado and ride with him into the high country. Setting up a huge Cabelas outfitter wall tent and his big cook tent. Going to be at about 11,000 feet.

Lumenok is my arrow sponsor for this years review, so we will be shooting some lighted nocks !! Also, Tactacam is going to be a sponsor of the review as well, so will have some cool footage of the hunt.

Now it is planning, planning, and planning. I love this time of year!

what did your buddy think of Somalia?

I was in Uganda and Djaboti last year and it was definitely.... interesting

Well I was in Somalia patrolling with the grunts. He was safe and sound on the boats. 1993, was the year, and it was my best deployment ever. Had a good time talking with all the kids there and putting the bad ones to rest. Sort of reminded me of Iraq, except for the children were much more friendlier in Somalia.

passed on turkey hunting.

i have a substantial hole in my thumb. cleaning a turkey would surely give me blood poisoning.
jogged, changed bandages, and took my wife car shopping. looking at (gasp) HYBRIDS!! all of them. lots of offerings.

wife said i could use it for some of my hunt trips. :)

I picked up my antlers from my big buck yesterday.
The shoulder mount is no where close to being done and I want it scored. So I am taking it someone monday......
AFTER MY TURKEY HUNT.

I\'m almost in Oklahoma. Today is scouting and shed hunting. Tomorrow is game time.

Practiced shooting form in front of mirrors without bow. My new place has 2 mirrors perpendicular to each other. The mirrors revealed that I was holding my bow arm too low. Also, practiced the kneeling form shot. My core could use some work.

Shot 10 arrows in basement while holding at full draw for a spell. Deltoid exercises are paying off. Shoulders are not fatiguing or too sore.

4.1 mile fast walk. Yesterday, I did a 3.1 mile fast walk.

3 loads moved from storage (lifting) to new place.

Just got back from a much needed vacation, but before I left I was able to get back out and do some load work for the rifle. One of the loads grouped three shots inside 1.5\" at 300 yards. Getting closer to the final load!

Almost got in a fist fight yesterday. Came to my senses before I crossed the line. On the bright side. Three miles of trails goes by fast while \"angry running\"

I can\'t even begin to explain how sore I am from these past two days.
Sunday my family and I went hiking and shed hunting in Oklahoma.
We did about 5 miles with them. Then they left and my buddy and I spend the evening gassing ridges for the following days turkey hunt. We added another 2-3 miles.

Then yesterday was opening day. To get to our spot we had to hike in about 1.5 miles down a cliff with all of our gear. Maybe 40 - 50 lbs a person minimum. After the morning was a bust we spent the rest of the day hiking around trying to get set up on birds. I was hiking with both my gun and bow.
I\'d say we did a total of 15 miles yesterday up and down cliffs. The worst part is it was 94 degrees and sunny....

shot my bow for about 30 minutes, did a fantastic back workout, and did 20 minutes of jump roping.

wooooohooo!!!

Work week of hell: 19 hr workday (new record for me) followed by a 13 hr workday. Today, the boss dismissed the worker bees early, so off to the outdoor walking range for 14 paper targets shooting one arrow per target. Only 10 yard shots as I dust off the cobwebs from 5 weeks of post-op restrictions. Yes, technically I cheated. I am not officially cleared to shoot my bow until Monday, but that is only 72 hours away. Close enough. I could not stand it any longer.
