What did you do today....

For all of you followers, lurkers, participants, and people who \"think they are already prepared\"........

We are 10-11 weeks out from early season bow seasons for Colorado and New Mexico.
There is something I really want to stress about this.... NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK..... you still have time to make a change in your life or get prepared for the season.

10 weeks is enough time to make a life change for the better when it comes to health and fitness.
Whether you are losing weight or trimming up, you have time to safely lose 5 more pounds, lower your body fat %, or build up some muscle.
It\'s plenty of time to build up your endurance so you can take it one more mile or climb one more mountain out there.
You have time to build up your core so you can shoot your bow with ease, hold your draw longer for those stubborn elk, and then have the muscle to pack it out :D

Lou touched on something a few days ago about the hunter he was guiding that had a heart attack (I am guessing, he has to give them CPR)

Anyways, we all know the guys and some of you even may be this guy. They think they are ready for whatever, but they are not 18 anymore.....
We need to train our bodies to be prepared for these situations and scenarios.

I like at 4400 feet, but will be hunting at 9K. Well I am going to do as much training as I can so my lungs and muscle don\'t fatigue so quick while I am out there.

Guess what else has always been beneficial since day one for me. I am a runner through and through and I train hard.
Well because of that I barely sweat..... I can be maxed out with weight, carrying my bow, and hiking my tail off....

Still no sweat.

I don\'t think I need to explain the reason why it\'s nice not to sweat.....

Basically what I am saying, knuckle down and train! :train:

We train with our equipment, we scout as much as we can both on the ground and from the internet; why not tie it all together with physically being ready for it too.

I am off for a chest workout, core, 2 mile run, and a walk.

I am stepping up on the training because I had this vision that I have to pack out an elk or two or three, or heck even my own! it felt real...... I know dans not going to quit until he rambos or was that chuck Norris. one at a wallow  plus it was nice not getting my butt kicked on the mtn. I just want to make it even easier :upthumb:

I honestly haven\'t worked out for a week or so. I have been too busy. I know it helps me a little but i work from sun up till sun down. I have trouble finding the time.I do get into working out in the spring and early summer. I then hit the weights once a week maybe twice. I will go on a walk with my pack once a week maybe twice for 3 miles with 60 lbs of soybeans in it. The summer I am busy big time trying to get everything done so I can find time off to go hunting.

I have dropped 5 lbs in the last month. Weighed in at 175 this morning. I spent the day busting concrete with a sledge and loading it in the backhoe bucket a 10 by 17 slab. I also moved a cement porch step so I dug some clay and used a pick to get through the gravel driveway. Had me a shower and going to grill some elk steaks for supper. I better get moving because daylight is burning and I need to mow and build a small deck yet tonight. Wish I had time for a good work out to keep up with yall. :)

Terry,

you are having ALL of this fun on a Saturday and didnt bother inviting any of us :(
I love projects like that.

I bet you get a much better workout doing that stuff all day than you would in a hour workout just lifting or doing cardio.

You are an animal all day at work, you will be an animal all day in the woods.

Not a big workout but I got my food plot in. The farmer planted corn in most of the field but left a strip along the woods for me to plant. Come on rain.

It started raining, thundering and getting windy as heck, so no running or walk.

So what I did instead was an interesting cardio workout.

I did about 30 minutes of jump roping, but after every stop I would shoot 5 shoots from my bow.

It felt GREAT!

yesterday. i dusted off my bow.

took all my broadheads and lovingly put them away..and screwed on my field tips. looked around, ran my block target into my backyard. 20 yards. five arrows. five spots on my target. white on black. whap!!x5. five for five right into the 1 inch squares. pulled my arrows and put everything away.

i jjust dont feel the comfy shooting in my backyard. one of my neighbors trees has my arrow stuck in it..i just know it. the first arrow i drew back on..hit the trigger at half draw. never found that arrow. sobering lesson.

it is crazy how well my bow fits. i cant say it is the best bow..but it fits so well. i can not shoot for a long time, and the fit just forces me into my perfect anchor. practice is for the long shots.. i dont think i\'ll ever miss a 20 shot. not with that bow.

congrats on the 8 miler!
sit ups and planks before work yesterday and a hard pace 6 mile bike ride after work to try out the new mtn bike tires that came in the mail. man those bigger tires really suck up the energy.... I went from a 700cx45 smooth short side wall tread hybrid tire to a 29x2.0 specialized fast trak, which has low knobbies for lighter weight and faster rolling... some bikes have 2.1 to 2.3 tires.
a couple of plank reps this morning
I am going to try and get the wife and kids up to red wing and hit their mtn bike course, whenever they decide to get home today.
its a nice day, I should shoot the bow.

Just finished a massive arm workout.

Now it\'s time for some yard work, shoot the bow, BBQ, and relaxation.

:D

Time is ticking down

Im smoking some ribs and chops today...

gah!!

i\'m super sore. hopefully, i\'ll just do a road bike ride this evening when it cools down.

in the meantime, my bathroom is super spotless, and my wife gave me the \"brownie points nod of approval\".. :D

wish i made enough cash to hire a house-cleaner..in the meantime, i AM the house-cleaner. booo!

good job guys!! your packs are going to be feathery in weight!!

So we went to run some errands and opened my wives door to find a soaked passenger side floorboard......

A few minutes of troubleshooting, a coat hanger, and some compressed air and we fixed the issue.
Clogged AC drain.....

So now it\'s drying out.

I also changed the oil in the generator and I am letting it run for few hours.
:train:

Checked a trail cam yesterday. Long hike in and I took a picture of a hidden watering hole.

Looks lik a great time JF.

I just finished up my run and sit ups.
We also broke in my new camper stove. We whipped up some elk, chicken, and red potatoes.... YUM.

Very very very productive weekend. :upthumb:

4 mile walk because a 10K caused parking issues for the Manitou incline this morning...I could not find a spot to park at 6:30 am on a Sunday  I will try again Tuesday night.

Assembled gear for camping/scouting trip.

I am an idiot. I forgot to take the batteries out of the trail cams, so they are dead. Bought more AAs batteries.

I heard a rumor that sunshine is returning to Colorado next weekend.

Received my elk tag in the mail, so now I have both the elk and deer tag.
