What Do You Shoot?

for elk

even #\'ed years- 358 Win in a BLR.

odd #\'ed years - 07 Diamond Black Ice 60#

I really like them both.

for most other purposes, I tote a 7mm-08 Savage American Classic and I LOVE that thing. I may take it on the 2016 rifle trip, when I\'ll be carrying a cow tag. That\'s what I\'ll have with me this weekend for whitetail + pigs.

For coyotes, I take the 300 Blackout in an AR-15 platform. Mild recoil and easy followup shots. Got three in a weekend in 2012, including a double with my boy. :)

I shoot a Bowtech Experiance 70#. Rifle is in the process of being saved up for but will be a 338 edge.
New to this forum my dad told me about this and he learned from John I beleive. I had a hard time finding it I was on another forum from a suggestion from John, my dad ended up letting me know he started a new site. Sorry for posting it in here I didn\'t see a intro deal so I just decided to post on an interesting topic.

I shoot a 7wsm and I bought my wife a new 7mm-08 for Christmas topped with a new nightforce shv. Those are our big game caliber and I shoot a 6x47 lapua for comp and coyotes and I shoot a bowtech swat and the wife shoots a pse

I thought I already replied to this thread ... guess not.

Archery: I have a Z7extreme set at 63#, shooting FMJ 340s with 125 grain Viper Tricks on them.

Rifle: My standby is a Savage 110 in .30-06 shooting 165 grain Hornady GMXs ... it\'s a wonderful rifle, and it really doesn\'t need the handloads that I make for it -- it shoots everything well.

But next year, it\'s going to be in the closet.

When Dad died in November, I became the owner of a Ruger M-77 Compact in .308. Dad won it in a raffle a couple years ago, and it\'s never been fired. I\'ll work on some loads this winter, and try to make a good all-around mountain gun out of it. The 16.5\" barrel makes it a real pleasure to carry and it should be a great saddle gun, too.

I need to put some glass on it this winter. Suggestions?

Archery I shoot a Hoyt spider 34 at 72# with Goldtip arrows tip with slick tricks. Rifle deer it is always a toss up between grandpas 30-06 my trusty Browning 308 or the new player my Browning X bolt .300 win mag.

Well, it\'ll get use for everything from pronghorn to elk ... I\'ve got quite a few Cabelas points to spend ... So budget is up to $500 - range.

In that price range, it is difficult to beat Leupold glass in my opinion. I noticed that the VX-3 with the CDS turrets (custom dial system) is going to be $100 off December 11-17. I don\'t know if you have any interest in that CDS system, but it might come in handy with some of your antelope hunts. Either way, $100 off makes it cheaper than the regular VX-3 models, so not a bad deal. The 3.5-10x40 model is regularly $549, so for $449 that would be a heck of a deal.

Other options I would consider are the Vortex Viper HS or the Vortex Viper HS Long Range. Both are on sale for the most part and would be solid options. The HS comes in either 2.5-10 or 4-16 with two different reticle options and the HS Long Range comes in 4-16 with a BDC reticle, which could also help on those antelope hunts. Both have options in the 4-16 models for either a 44mm or 50mm objective as well. I haven\'t ever had to use it, but supposedly Vortex\'s warranty is second to none, which makes their items even more attractive.

Those would be my suggestions. Let us know what you decide on!

Leupold and Vortex were leading the pack for me, actually.

I\'m going to have to go and actually look through some, though. I\'m counting on after-Christmas sales.

Insanity CPXL at 62#. Love this bow. Spot Hogg, Hogg-It Hunter sights and Tight Spot quiver. She\'s getting new strings and cables and rest after Christmas.

Thats pretty good. I have been messing around with a recurve and shooting instictive. 20yds is my max with that. I have not killed anything with it. Haven\'t even shot at an animal with it yet. One of these days I will.

Yes, one of these days you will. It can be heartbreaking to pass up longer shots, but it\'s easier to sleep at night when you understand your abilities and respect your limits. Besides, getting so close is exhilarating---close enough to count their eyelashes! At least that\'s what I tell myself... ;)

I shoot a barebow Martin Crossfire at 45#, and a Samick Sage recurve at 45#. Max shot distance for elk is 20-25 yards.
No fire sticks for me yet, just stick and string so far...

I am shooting an Elite Pulse bow, as my main bow. My main rifles are a 270 and my long range gun is 7mm Rem Mag. I also have a recurve that I shoot instinctively just for fun.
