What Do You Shoot?

I do not know what Troy shoots, but a 270 Win. is good medicine for elk. I like 140 gr. for deer and elk. Many people lie 150 grains for elk and 130 for deer. !49 gr. is a good round for both and you don\'t need to re-sight in when you change over.

This is good to know. I have a .300 win mag, but I have a beautiful .270 too that I love to shoot.
I wanted to use it for an elk hunt, but someone told me that it would never work and then another person who was there confirmed his statement.

I figured that with that round as long as I made a good shot then it would be game over, but after hearing them say don\'t do it then I just didn\'t put much more thought into it.

The 330wm is an excellent elk gun, but the 270 ranks high on the list too.
It\'s a flat shooting, hard hitting caliber.
Typically the guys that say its not an elk gun are the ones that need the biggest, bestest gun.
And they probably aren\'t the best marksmen

If you want to use it, use it. The elk won\'t know the difference

06\' Bowtech Tribute-I LOVE that bow, although next year I would like to switch to a recurve.

Yep...unless you are shooting at longer ranges, no elk is going to know the difference between a .270 win and a .300 win mag. Hit them where you are supposed to with a bullet meant for hunting and you will be just fine.

Hey there!

I shoot a 7x57 Mauser that my Dad sporterized for me. It\'s a wonderful remembrance of hunting with my Dad.

Hello CNELK!

I live in south Central Washington state, near the Tri-Cities. Out our living room window, I can view the tallest, tree-less mountain in North America, Rattlesnake Mountain. Unfortunately, not much opportunity for tree stands.

My wife and I moved here from Seattle/Eastside after retiring. We enjoy living here.
