I'm in the stage where its really tough to shoot a cow. I'm not saying I wouldn't on the last day of the season just to fill the freezer. But I basically am all in for a bull. I don't care if its a spike or a wall hanger. I figure if the good lord blesses me with a quality shot opportunity then I am obliged to take it. Especially in the area we hunt - the success ratio is really low and the elk numbers are small and widely spread. I feel grateful when I have the opportunity to fill my tag, but I have passed on several cows. If going after an ordinary bull ever gets boring then I guess that means I'm moving to a new stage. But so far all bulls get my blood pumping the same.
