What state are we waiting on next?

Arkansas doesn\'t even know what a PP is... :downthumb: :downthumb:

Be careful what you wish for! As the \"old timers\" have now found out, preference points are good for them, and terrible for their children/young hunters.

There are some tags that for a new hunter starting applying this year, providing the system doesn\'t change, will take an estimated time of 70 years to draw. More preference point holders will drop out due to death than draw the tag. ( see: point creep )

I know I\'ll never draw an Arkansas elk tag since the draw is from a \"squirrel cage\" at the Arkansas elk festival each year and normally on a few tags are drawn... The rest are given away for youth to bid on and adults from other states to bid on... I think one adult antlered elk tags sold at auction for $40,000.00 a while back...

Phil,

Oklahomas preference point system is not your standard one.
Every year you don\'t draw you get a preference point and it builds up as you go.
The more you get, the easier it is to draw, but someone drawing for their first time can still draw a tag with zero preference points.

This is not the exact numbers, but I\'d imagine that tag allocation goes to 80% preference point holders and then 20% lucky people haha

Arkansas started out as \"one and done\" meaning you could only draw once and couldn\'t apply again... Don\'t know if it\'s still that way....

Also known as a \"bonus point\" system. Just learned that the other day

I think my favorite system (or idea for one?) is bonus points with waiting periods. After you draw that tag, you cannot apply for it for X amount of time, based on how many applicants for that hunt. This gives everyone a chance to draw the tag once, and stops the \"that lucky son of a gun drew that super rare tag 3 years in a row!\" that can happen without the waiting period, and also favors those who haven\'t drawn a tag

I\'m sure there are problems with it that I haven\'t come across yet.

Yes sir! Bonus points all the way!
I hope I draw :upthumb:

CO guys,

how does your backdoor method work?
Is it generally a sure thing for checking?

I have a deer tag a most likely drew this year and need to see if my fall is gonna be nuts :D :D ;D

Dan
Typically the \'backdoor\' is in effect until the drawing has taken place.
Drawings are usually completed on Fridays so a day or two after the drawing is when the backdoor opens.

There have been some changes recently so the backdoor option may not work

But in the past, the backdoor has been correct
