What's your countdown...

Elk season is fluid this year. No set plan, just know I?m going somewhere, some time.
180 days to retirement is the reason. After that, elk hunt a couple states a year. Wife has already approved that plan.

Oh wow, 180 days will come quick.
Early congrats to you and your soon to be retirement. Well done!

I will be hunting Antelope in 33 days. And elk in 50 days, I get to spend the first 3 weeks of the season in Montana unit 410 hunting elk, hopefully it doesn't take that many days.

Yessiree. I have mine going right here for Colorado's GMU 53 & 63 for Oct 10, 2018.
It is the 1st rifle season.  :) I made it as an html page and is now my home page for the web browser.

Drew a Moose tag in Idaho.  I'm basically worthless for the next couple months.  Anyone else that will be in 51 in September shoot me a PM.

Congrats on the tag!!!!  :upthumb:

What's your goal for the hunt? What is the averaged sized bull from that unit?

Thank You!  I am super pumped about it.  All my experience is with Elk, so I'm really enjoying the process of learning about a new critter that I never thought I would have the opportunity to hunt.  Enjoyed connecting with folks around this tag as well.

I have not yet determined my goal, other than I want to get it done with my bow.  The average spread for the unit is 35" and I think anything 35" and above is a good representative bull for the unit and one I'd be proud to have.  But, I've found very large elk in crowded CO OTC units, so I am hoping with some hard work and getting a little further back than the average Joe I can beat the odds and come home with something closer to 40".

You know it does stink that there will be other elk hunters, but I?d be picking every single hunters brain I see out there if they?ve seen any moose or not. I?m willing (hoping) to bet that they?d offer up that info to someone on a once in a life time hunt!

Good luck!!!
