What's your countdown...

26 days. Scouting today we came across two separate herds of about 200 plus, cows and a healthy crop of calves as well as spikes covering the hillsides. They were so vocal and what a beautiful site. Then came across a solid 320 6x6 still growing. Great morning for sure!

Did you get out to scout yet?

I did last weekend. Eliminated a lot of country due to 4 wheeler trails and County roads. Beautiful country but picked up more trash off the sides of the trails than any other NF I've been in. It was sad. Walked to a water tank a mile off the road behind a no access gate to find a jeep stuck in it with beer bottles all around.

I found a few places elk may be when I'm there but I definitely plan on covering ground and not getting hung up on scenery. Oddly enough I'm looking forward to this hunt more than Wyoming.

I?m excited to hear how the hunt goes.  Given your experience I think you will be able to find the elk out there. Who knows, this may become your new favorite unit! Which would be nice because you?d not run into the same issue as this year as far as tag acquisition.  :upthumb:
