What's your favorite elk hunting state

Hunted Montana & Utah So Far.....

I would say UTAH!!!    Only 30 Minutes to Elk & Peace & Quiet & a  Limited draw unit.

My goal is to shoot a pope and young bull in an OTC unit. Which makes my choices go Idaho then Colorado. I've killed elk in both. The only thing Idaho has on colorado is less hunters and way more roadless country, but decent OTC for both states.

With in an hour I am elk hunting here in Idaho, love it. But I am from Pa, and they have an elk hunt now. It would be fun to go back home and get a chance at an elk in the same woods I white tailed hunted as an kid.

I'm a Montana native, so that state is my preference,  I hunted Arizona, once, it was fantastic, I never saw so many elk.  But, getting a tag there is nearly impossible.

I've always wanted to try Idaho or Montana...or chase after a monster in Arizona.
I do enjoy up here in B.C, I can chase elk 25 minutes from my front door, quality and size may not be the biggest but to be able to buy an over the counter tag and come home for lunch is hard to beat.

Colorado has so many OTC units for eaither sex archery it's only $589 for a non res tag. I have a friend coming up from New Mexico to hunt because he said the no res tag here is cheaper then a land owner tag down there. I think that's a little ridiculous does anybody know much about this?

Montana- 4
Colorado- 3
Idaho-3
Utah- 3
Oregon, North Dakota, British Colombia, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, and for the extremely smart person who put Hawaii, all are at- 1 so far

Lol I don't remember Wyoming even being mentioned yet. There are some huge ones there. I'd like to go to Yellowstone with a cow call and a camera during the rut.

Grew up hunting in Western Montana
Have hunted CO
Killed a nice bull in AZ (took 7 years to draw a tag)
Live in the Idaho Panhandle now. Hoping to get my first Idaho elk soon (going in to my 4th year up here)

Hunted AZ, NM and CO.

All are great, but I have numerous oppurtunities to hunt NM, and the best memories so far are here in NM.
