Been out 3 days and had bugles each day so far but the bulls are not fired up yet. Just a few answers and they move along and do there thing.
It\'s coming !!! :dance2:

Just got home.
Tough elk hunting conditions - hot & dry.
I did get an answer to a locator bugle this morning but the wind was wrong and we couldnt extend the \'play time\'

Trail cams show minimal elk activity

Let things set a few days and try it again

Nobody I talked to heard any talking. On a side note I think I met colorado Russ. Or at least I met a guy named Russ that was a rifle hunter but is bow hunting for the first time. Didn\'t put it together until after I took off.

Probably not our Colorado Russ. He\'s about 6\'2\" with a pretty strong Oklahoma accent & has bow hunted elk for several years. Sounds like a pretty slow opener this year. I\'ve only heard of 1 calf being taken so far by a 14 year old first year bow hunter. He also missed earlier yesterday morning on a nice 5 pt. 10 days for me to agonize & wait....

I feel your pain, Dave but it sounds like later may be better this season... :upthumb: :upthumb: :upthumb:

12 more days for me and I hope the little fast flying critters are in attendance opening morning... :D :D

Nope definitely not. Apparently there\'s more than one Russ in Colorado that hunts? Haha

I wonder if there\'s more than one Ol\' Arky\'s in Arkansas or anywhere?????

You can tell I\'m bored... :D :D

I\'m like the \"Cookie Monster\" but instead of cookies, me want elk on the ground and pictures!!!! :upthumb: :upthumb: :upthumb:

I had cows and a small bull in bow range. Also had a good bit of bugling Saturday morning and evening. I was hunting deer so I shot the elk with the camera. Got some decent pics but for some reason I can\'t get logged in with my phone to post. I\'ll give the deer one more shot tomorrow then 4 days of work and it\'ll be time to kill a couple elk :upthumb: Then I\'ll probably only see deer ;)

Trailer is loaded, truck is loaded, and I am physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually ready for this hunt.

I am heading up tomorrow at noon and the game plan is:

- Set up camp tomorrow evening and check 1-3 cameras.
- Wake up Tuesday and check the rest of the cameras, glass and scout a new area.
- Wake up Wednesday, glass from a far/listen for bugles, shoot our bow and pack our packs for opening day which is THURSDAY.

Service is patchy, but I will try my best to get updates on here!
I AM SO EXCITED.

Good luck to everyone else out there hunt.... I am not leaving that mountain without an elk. :agg: :upthumb:

Pretty quit in the elk woods this weekend. This year we have some cattle in are area which is a new thing. They have never been in this area since we started hunting it. I have some good pic on the trail cameras so I know they are there. No bugles and nothing coming to calls. Will give it a shot again next weekend.

Unfortunately, same results as the others. 2 does within range but no elk sightings and nothing heard. Trail cameras show very sporadic activity.

Unlike Brad, it was cold and wet down South. Rained most of the evening sit Saturday and was a hard frost/freeze Sunday am. ATV seat had icicles on it.

Not me Ucsdryer. As Dave stated, I\'ve been bow \"hiking\" for several years - new term we coined after years of carrying our bows around in the woods and never killing anything! Thought I covered up the ascent but guess not. :)

Camped in the area of my spot (but about a 2000\' elevation difference this weekend.

Lots of old sign there, but no bugles. Very hot and dry.

I then checked a few trail cameras.

1 was knocked to the ground and got pictures of clouds.

1 had a dead battery.

And 1 ... had a lots of bulls, including this guy.

Here\'s a few more photos.

I didn\'t check my one camera that is on water ... but with water scarce, I can\'t wait.
