To enter, simply answer these two questions in one reply below:
1. What are your goals for this season?
2. What would you consider a successful season?

Only one entry per person. To win, you must have a minimum of five posts on the forum and be in good standing with no violations in the last year. Contest will run until Sunday at 6:00pm MST.

Good luck!

1) Goal-I've tried to prepare this offseason physically and with my weapon. I'm taking 2 weeks to increase my chances of elk encounter opportunity in CO.

Hopefully preparation + opportunity leads to...
2) Success-successful elk harvest this fall in CO.

1 or more whitetails at home in NC.

1. Considering I didn?t draw a tag, my goals are to make it through the elk101 course and be in shape by Next elk season.

2. I would consider it a success if I am able to craft a good elk arrow setup and prove it on some hogs or whitetail.

1. Follow my plan this year in the areas I have scouted. Harvest a cow or bull elk from the areas I have put that hard work into.

2. If I leave Colorado with a smile on my face while being mentally and physically exhausted I consider that successful.

Goals - I was lucky enough to pull my first choice archery elk and mule deer tags for this year, so I'm hoping all of the hard work in the field and online course work pays off with either a cow or bull elk (either would be my first).  Nice mule deer buck is a bonus.

Successful season - I would be happy just to have a setup that gets us close to a bull, that is not impacted by other hunters, etc.  Taking an animal is a bonus for sure.

1. This year I plan to use my knolage I have picked up over the course of season to season also coming after becoming a Elk101 UEH Member and fully readying and studying all the Courses offered.

2. Last year I killed a young Bull elk for my first Archery kill, this year I want to up it and get a more mature Bull as my tag out ! Fingers crossed all the hard work I have been putting in all this off season will pay off ! I need it to get me to where luck can?t get me !

1. My goal for this year is to get the bull that I have been watching since last year and to do it before someone else finds my hunting spot.

2. To me, I would consider success to be putting meat on the table for my family and I, bull or a cow. I believe doing that gives you the better feeling of success.

1. My goal would have to be to call in a 6x6 of good size in under 30 yards!

2. A successful season would be if I got the opportunity to have an elk screaming in my face up close and personal. Shot or not that makes going out and expieriencing the hunt amazing !

Goals, in preferential order: 1) shoot an elk with my bow, 2) fill both elk tags with my bow, 3) fill both elk tags (archery or rifle), 4) fill elk & deer tags

Successful season: 1) Give myself opportunities to fill my tags during archery season by taking at least 1 archery shot at an elk. 2) Have multiple call-in situations during archery. 3) Pound the woods during rifle season, if needed.

1. Goal is to harvest a bull elk! (Always be prepared for success, right?!)

2. Successful season would be to walk away from this season feeling more confident about next season. This year will be my buddy?s and my first elk hunt (OTC Archery in CO) so we are very eager to put our game plan to the test! I will be the primary caller and have been ?quarterbacking? the game plan from the start. Ready to be tested!

1. The ultimate goal would be a freezer full of meat. The culmination of time in the gym, hours flinging arrows, studying draw odds etc., ultimately boils down to a freezer full of meat.

2. A successful year to me is the opportunity to create memories with my children, watching their love for the outdoors grow. Showing them the importance of conservation and public lands, and of course seeing the joy in their faces when they harvest an animal.

1. This will be my first year hunting in Montana. My goal is to find a good area and harvest a branch antler bull with a bow.
2. A successful season. Did I do everything in my power to prepare? Did I hunt smart and give it everything I had? If I can answer yes to both of those then it was a successful season.

I need a proper bugle tube. I?ve been using small short ones and I don?t know if the projected sound mimics the elk.
My goal this year is to give a mature bull a dirt nap.  I his is the only goal. The reason I hunt !! It will be a successful hunt if u have fun doing it.
Bribing my father in law this year so I plan on slowing down the pace of things. Sit back more and enjoy the mountains.
This will be my 3rd season and no tag soup for me after reading through elk101 a dozen times and watching calling sequences from all different hunters online. Can?t waut.

Best of luck to all hunters this year !!

1 goal is shoot my bow 5 days a week
2 increase my accuracy up to 60 yards

1) Goal for this season is to take a nice bull elk with my bow
2) I consider a successful season/hunt by having a good time and getting home safe.  Filling a tag is a bonus.

Each year we all start out with goals that carry through the season such as start working out months before season, scout more, study as much UEH as possible and other techniques , practice shooting, etc... I think these are common goals of each hunter. But the ultimate goal with all the preparation and is to harvest an elk to put meat in the freezer. Successful hunt? To me a successful hunt is getting out enjoying the outdoors, everyone making it back safely, learning new things to do the next year. Successful is not always getting the animal , as long as you enjoyed time in the outdoors and learned for seasons to come and everyone made it back safe, it was a success. Happy Hunting and good luck to all hunters.

Goals for the season:
1. Kill an elk with my bow
2. Kill a decent CO buck
3. Not get killed by my wife for being gone too much

Successful season:
Have fun and enjoy my time in nature.
