My goal for this year is be able to successfully locate elk and be able to put a stalk on them using some of the tactics learned through the course. One of the major things that will help with this goal is losing 37 lbs and ALOT of physical conditioning.
I will consider this trip a success if I go home with a relaxed feeling even if physically I?m beat down. Some meat in the freezer would be an added bonus!
1) I purchased my bow 4 years ago and for the past 4 years I have not been able to draw an archery tag in New Mexico. I was lucky enough to draw a rifle tag but this year I finally got my chance. My goal for this season is to put the rifle away and finally complete an archery hunt during the rut.
2) success for me is getting an encounter with a bull elk. Finally getting the Chance to call and interact with these animals has me very excited and optimistic. If i can get that encounter but am unsuccessful in harvesting an animal I will still consider that a successful first archery hunt
Success this year will be measured not by harvesting an elk rather, did I apply the knowledge I learned this year in the quest of hunting elk. Several goals this year. 1. Ride my recumbent trike 1018 miles in preparation for the hunt. I am at 908 miles. 2.Continue my physical fitness journey spending time on my abs, arms and core 3 days a week. 3. Each time I drive my pickup practice my elk talk. 4. Last and most important work as hard as I can to get my warrior Hunter on an elk. Remembering, It is about His hunt for a new normal.
This fall marks the "retirement party" for my compound bow, going stick and string next season! Success for me is always measured by the time I get to spend in the field. With 8 tags in my pocket, this year, I have plenty of reasons to get out there. Happy hunting all and enjoy your public lands this fall!
1. My goal is to get home from my military deployment safely to my family, with having done enough training this year to feel fit in the mountains on a public land hunt for elk.
2. Success for me is simple. I have the same goal every year. The day I take my first step from my truck into the mountains in pursuit of elk I see as success. It is the day that everything I have done all year to prepare comes together. Success for me is an 11 month journey each year. I love the journey.
1.) I have three goals for the season.
Goal 1) go deeper into the back country than I did last year, I want to see new territory and take advantage of my 2 weeks that I am able to spend out in Colorado this year.
Goal 2) communicate and become a better caller and hunter, I was able to call in a handful of bulls. with last year being my first year elk hunting, and I want to continue to improve.
Goal 3) Not only be able to make a clean and ethical kill for myself, but more importantly having the opportunity to get my hunting partner's uncle on a bull. I was able to get my hunting. partner on a bull last year and living vicariously through him was better than me getting one down.
2.) What will make this year successful is one thing and one thing only. Introducing new friends to the backcountry and watching them fall in love with it. Whether we kill an elk, or even see an elk, the. time away, disconnected from society was a success for me last year, and will be a success for me always until I am no longer able to spend Septembers in the mountains.
1. Didn't draw a tag this year so helping friends with their hunt. Goal is to call a nice bull into the right set up to give them a great opportunity.
2. Obviously the best success would be calling in some nice bulls for my buddies to harvest and coming home with a couple elk in the truck, but as long as well have a good time, and great memories are made it will be a win.
1:My goal this season is to have more succiessful stalks than last year. And hopefully get a bull on my 9 day solo trip. I live where I hunt, but took a week off work for uninterrupted hunting.
2: A successful season/hunt for me is most all hunts/seasons since I live in the last best place. If I see animals, have fun, and leave the areas better than I found them, that is a success to me. I live for the hunt, not just the harvest
1. My primary goal for this archery season does not have to do with myself. My dad turns 65 this year and his goal is to harvest a bull elk with his bow. For years now he has given me every opportunity to harvest big game animals and this year it is time to repay the favor. My goal (with help from the Rocky Mountain Hunting Calls) is to be the best caller I can this year in hopes he will accomplish the goals he has set for himself.
2. The season will be a success the second we lay foot on Gods Country because any time spent with the ones you love, doing the things you cherish, is fulfilling enough.
1) going on my first archery elk hunt this year. My goal is to get within bow range of any elk. That and filling the freezer with whitetail and bear in the other seasons.
2) Just getting into the mountains and staying safe and healthy and enjoying good hunting and good company is a successful year
1.) My #1 goal this year is to help in getting my brother his first elk. He has been a few times but unlucky more than anything. Hopefully this is the year!
2.) I would consider any trip we take together and get home safely a success. We will make a few memories and those by themselves will be a success.
Goal is to learn more and harvest an elk. Don?t have to harvest an elk for it to be a successful season. Whatever I?m able to learn and seeing new areas that are on list will make it successful. Just being out there with my dad is what?s most important.
First post, happy to be here and enjoying all the great info on the forum as well in the Elk 101 course.
1. My goals are simple. I want to find elk, shoot elk and bring elk home. I'm going to make this happen by improving my scouting and doing it the way Cory teaches in the course. I'll also be spending about a week pre-season on foot scouting in my unit.
2. Success for me this year would really be bringing meat home. I'll have an any bull and an antlerless tag so I can take any elk I can get a clean shot on. I'm perfectly satisfied with taking a bull, a spike, a cow or a calf. I'd feel pretty successful for a long time just knowing that I pulled it off in one form or another.
