1. The goal is to use the past few years of experience (not filling a tag) the continuous education, research and preparation to increase my chances to harvest and elk!!
2. Success looks like knowing at the end of the hunt, based off of my experience and knowledge, I gave my self the best opportunity I could for a successful hunt.
1. My goal is to have a fun trip and hit the mountain hard. Going to pack in and solo camp for a few nights this year for the first time.
2. Of course bringing home a elk is the plan but just staying positive and not beating myself will make the trip successful.
1. My goals for this are to harvest an elk to provide meat for my family, learn from the mistakes i will surely make while out chasing bugles and to help my father harvest his first elk.
2. As soon as we step foot in our hunting area i'll consider my season a success. Being able to hunt our public lands is success enough for me.
1.) Overall goal is to bring home my first elk. I?ve had 4 Unfilled tags and I would like to think that this is the year.
2.) This will go down as a successful hunt if I can get a set up on a bull. Shot or not, having a bull come into calls or what have you would make this a successful season. A lot of work has gone into this offseason, so I can say I checked the box if a shot even presents itself.
1) Kill a bull with my bow
2) I would say anytime I get to be outdoors chasing elk is a success. Obviously accomplishing goal number 1 would be a success as well.
My goal is to make it into NM from NY on time for Sept 1 opener in Unit 16B as my first Hunt this season. I am fortunate to have drawn a Tag and to have a supporting wife who accepts my passion for the outdoors.
For me success has already happened by drawing the Tag, but winning this call would be nice as well.
Being in the woods hunting and doing it safely with good friends is a bonus.
I?ve been practicing calling for just over a year now and I think I sound pretty good. This will be my first archery hunt and my first time calling for somebody else. So I guess goal number one would be to call an elk for my partners and goal number two being successful would be one of them actually getting a shot in a bull that I called in
My goal is to have encounters with bull elk resulting in everyone in the hunt taking an elk.
A successful year is experiencing the hunt and camaraderie with good friends and family. Being able to match wits/knowledge with a respectable trophy animal and may the best one win.
Goal - To honor all elements of the hunt and take a mature bull with a clean kill.
The success comes in the journey along the way. The hours of prep, the challenges met and overcome. The planning, execution and adaptation. The knowledge used and the lessons learned. Growing as a person, a friend, a father, a husband. The memories made and the dreams of seasons to come. Bonds created and honest reflection. The work put in, the pain felt and the exhilaration of it all. The hours and hours and even more hours that come down to one rush filled, focused, muscle memoried second.....of the string leaving my fingers.
I am attempting to Peak rut hunt for the first time with my bow, long time rifle hunter, but goals are to go out and play in the elk and have some big angry bulls respond to my call, preferably come into bow range. And in general enjoy my favorite 3 months of the year
2. What would you consider a successful season?
I would love to get an inside 50 yard oppertunity on a mature bull. That I have called in.
1) I did not get an Elk tag in Ontario so I am off to the Rocky Mountains to hunt my old stomping grounds with my friends and family. This will be a five day window so we will need a little luck to be in our favour.
2) At this point, I am just looking to absorb as much knowledge I can from the great folks I will be out with. They have all being going this for a long time. I have not hunted since I was 15 years old. Give that I am now 44 I might be a little rusty....
Wow. So sweet, can?t believe I won. Can?t wait to compare the extreme tube to my Wapiti Walker. Thanks again and good luck in the woods this year to everyone.
