Another Free Gear Friday!

          1. To shoot a legal bull with the bow in Colorado OTC this year.

          2. To enjoy the mountains and have a close encounter with a legal bull.

my goal is to harvest an elk. This season will be my 3rd season solo bow hunting.
What I consider succesful is at least the opertunity to talk to the elk.

Great topic!

1) My goal is to get back into tip top health after having 3 brain surgeries in the past 8 months. Just got the all clear from my surgeon so I?m excited! Just ordered a new bow and want to get proficient with it.

2) my opinion of a successful season is to hunt positive and to do my part in keeping public lands public. Success, in my opinion, isn?t measured in inches or size but conservation and ensuring my kids and their kids will always have a place to hunt. That being said, I feel pretty great with some fresh meat to eat...

Best of luck everyone! Brad

1. Call in a bull elk for me and my buddies

2. A successful season would be to make it all the way to CO, hunt, and make it all the way home without major issues.

1. My goals for this season. Fully disconnect from everyday life while I?m in God?s country and take in all it has to offer. Get at least one bull to talk with me. Harvest my first branched antlered bull. Break my 21 year bull elk tag eating streak. Take what I have learned from listening to your POD cast and Elk101 video and use it in the field. Recognize my mistakes and learn from them. And probably the most important I have a cow tag to go along with my bull tag my goal is to harvest the cow with my son with me, he?s 10 with special needs and can?t walk so this will be my greatest challenge as well as one of my greatest memories whether or not we harvest an animal together I know for sure he will be in elk country with me making memories.

2. Sucess would be to have an elk encounter with my son with me. Spend some more time with my dad on the mountain and hearing hunting stories I?ve heard a thousand times. Spending some time with my wife in the hills. And some alone time as well. If I?m lucky enough to harvest an animal or animals making a clean quick kill and being able to get the meat off the mountain and processed without losing any. Make some new memories relive some old ones and walk away with a smile and increased knowledge that will help me in future hunts.

Good luck everyone! Aim small miss small! And don?t forget to capture your memories with pics and video.

My goals for the season are for a chance at an elk with my bow.

Success is in the eye of the beholder, for me, it's just being out in the mountains enjoying chasing elk.

1. My goal this year is to learn some areas through e scouting since my next elk hunt will be next year.
2. A successful season would be to just have fun and enjoy the land that we all own.

My goal is to have an opportunity at a bull.  This is my 2 nd year archery hunting elk otc's in Colorado

Any animal is a success for me.

1) My ultimate goal for the season will be to call in and harvest my first Colorado Archery bull.  I have taken some cows during rifle season but have yet to have antlers on the ground.

2) Success for the year would be to have several bulls come into my calls.  I've learned so much through the Elk101 course and from different podcasts all the things I've done so wrong over the years.  So to have bulls respond and come into calls, even if none are harvested, would be extremely exciting and a huge success in my books.

21 days and counting.  Good luck in the mountains this year everyone.

I haven't hunted elk before, but am working on making that dream come true.  My goals for this year are:

1. Enjoy this falls WI whitetail hunt with my father who is 79, not sure how many years he has left to hunt.
2. Continue to learn about elk hunting so I am ready when that does come.

My goal is to have my fitness in a place that the hunt is enjoyable and not excruciating.

Success would be seeing an elk in the wild for the first time!

1. My number one goal is to have fun. Regardless of the e environment, obstacles, and hardships I want my first hunt to be enjoyable

2. Success is self defined. Each hunter has their own benchmark or level of success based upon their training and experience. Success for me will be to engage and harvest an elk, any elk.  With the help of elk talk podcasts, UEH, elktalk101, and lots of reading I am prepared to start this journey. And I hope that it is followed by many more years of learning while sharing it all with others to share the wealth.

1. Goals: help my daughter shoot her first buck, javelina, or feral hog; tag my first member of the deer family

2. Success would be a filled elk tag by either me or my hunting partner, fun and productive hunt(s) for my daughter, finally using some of the five deer tags we get with our Texas license.

This is my first official post. I recently moved from WA and had an established camp to CO and having to figure it all out alone. This will be my 4th year but years 1-3 were really just me tagging along with some friends.

So to answer the question of what my goal is? Well I want to enjoy myself. I also would really like my months of research to show that it paid off. I also want to enjoy some time in the mountains with some of my best friends. That is a lot but really any one of those would do.

As for what would be a successful season. It goes back to my goals. But if my research and work pays off and we see elk I would be very happy. Bagging one would be even better but I want to start with finding those bad boys in a brand new state.

1. My ultimate goal is to be able to fill my elk tag with my bow. This will be my 3rd year archery hunting elk and I have been close the previous 2 years. I'm hoping it all comes together and I can say that my hard work and efforts were the reason behind my success.

2. My daughter turns 10 in October and drew a late cow tag. I'm expecting an exciting trip with her and I'm hoping that the experience will help her love for the sport and conservation grow. She's been with me in years past as I've harvested elk and she has helped with the skinning and boning. This hunt will all be focused on her and helping her have an enjoyable and unforgettable elk hunt, whether or not she harvests one.

1. My dream goal is to fill my very first tag. My actual goal is to get out and get on the mountain and spend time scouting and locating something to go after.
2. This year would be beyond a success if I fill my tag but in all reality this year success would be to be able to find what I am looking for. Last year we didn?t see a thing, heard a lot but never actually saw anything. Also just spending time with my dad and brother will make this year a success.

I have a couple goals besides the obvious one to kill an elk:
-been working hard on my cardio after seeing how gassed i got last year, so when its go time inside 200-300 yards, i want to be strong enough to get up the hill fast and make a steady shot with a better controlled heart rate
-ive been practicing my calling daily, and i really want to engage some mature bulls and see how effective my calling is, and hopefully get one worked into a frenzy
-I'm 64 and hopefully have lots of years left to do this, but you never know about health stuff, and so i plan to enjoy every aspect of this hunt like it will be my last.

Success will be a dead elk that i called in and set up on using what ive learned from UEH.

Goals:
-To get into at least one successful setup or calling position where I know an elk is near.
-To maintain the ability to think and plan through the "fog" of backcountry hiking and camping.

Success:
-Being back at my truck without any regrets or feeling like I quit with time still on the clock.
-An ethical kill for myself or my partners.

Thanks.
