I guess we need to stoop showing off how awesome Oklahoma is :dance2:

Yes or everybody is going to think it is the next Iowa or Illinois. You know we have a huge buck around every oak tree here in Iowa. :mg: :mg: :mg:

You mean I\'ve been buying IOWA preference points for no reason

He\'s got all the splits you think your seeing. Both G2\'s are split, pretty unique for a whitetail. The chocolate horns are a characteristic of that area of Oklahoma. Very common. I live in Colorado and gave up that spot to a great friend back home. If I ever move back I can most likely obtain permission again.

The wounded buck is in KS and on a current property that I have permission.

What part of OK are you in? I\'ve only seen a few chocolate horns where I hunt, I wish I saw more. Your buck looks amazing.

I killed a mule deer near Shattuck about 5 years ago and and this buck on the Salt Plains the following year, west side of the state.

Dan,

This is the biggest buck I ever had on camera, period. 2013 myself and a friend checked this camera after we had sit all morning with little action during the start of the rut. This pic was the same morning about 200 yds from where I had sit the same morning and we pulled the card less than an hour after the picture was taken. Absolute brute and still alive as far as we know. Clipped pic from the PC as you can tell but it gives more detail.

Brady, is that a ND or SD whitetial?

He is in sd, i got got permission to bow hunt so hung some trail cams and after the owner of the land saw him on a cam pic he didn\'t want me hunting until he got first shot at him. what a bunch of bs uh. He doesn\'t bow hunt so wanted to rifle hunt him and then he never went out. He got shot second day into rifle season. I know if i would have been able to hunt him i would have killed him i had about 200 pics of him and had I\'m patterned perfect, was just waiting till bow season. i was so up set when that came out of his mouth and he knew it too.

Aaron,

I don\'t think you need to hear it from me, but that deer is an ABSOLUTE BRUTE. He would score over 170 without even trying.
I cant even imagine how you felt after seeing that picture...

Again I say, I think Oklahoma is a fantastic whitetail state and well below the radar. I hope it stays that way.
I also really hope you get a shot at that buck.

The first few pictures I posted in here and the buck that I shot this year will score just a tad over 160, if not right on the money.
He was the biggest buck I caught on camera out there.

I do know of a 12 point out there that has about 10-15\" on my buck and I will be searching for him this upcoming year.

That is frustrating and I hope you never have to deal with something like that again....
I sit here talking about OK being an underrated whitetail state, but honestly I think the Dakotas are too.
First off your deer are the size of tanks, but the racks seem to match too. People just cannot tell because their bodies make them look so small.

If I don\'t get orders here soon, I was thinking about putting in for a stabilized tour in Minot ND. That way I could chase big bodied whitetails all the time

Here\'s a big body for you Dan. He was a 12 point that was shot a mile from where I got this pic. He field dressed 250.

I know this one is not big game but we don\'t have allot of them and rarely see them around here.

Nd\'s deer hunting isnt what it used to be the game and fish final cut back on deer tags to bring the population back up. From what i have been hearing getting a tag in nd is going to be tough. It used to be u could get a bow tag and a rifle and muzzy tag now it sounds like you will only be able to apply for one license and have to be unit specific. I use to be able to bow hunt western part of the state and then come home and bow hunt if i never got anything and then also rifle hunt. If your wanting to chase some whitetails i could probally get u set up on something. Is there much for whitetail down in nm? How are the elk doing? i plan on coming down one of these years elk hunting.

Come on down, the elk are great here! The whitetail is a different story here in NM. They are scattered and few and far between.
That\'s mostly why I mostly hunt whitetail in Oklahoma. The mule deer and antelope in NM definitely make up for the lack of WT though.

Yeah it would be fun to hunt nm since i have never been there, Havent really researched nm much is there lots of public land like most of the western states.

This came from Olympushunt\'s trail cam, but is still one of my favorites.

NM is an absolute treat and I think that anyone who has hunted it will agree.
The only hard part for a non resident is drawing.....
Lots of public land out here.
