Rifle is in.... now we begin....

If I missed it, what caliber did you get? I bought a Tikka also last week, in 7 mm Mag. It was the last 7 that my Cabela\'s store had. May I ask also why you changed rings and installed a rail? I\'ve heard some complain about the stock ones that come with it but the installer at the store said as long as you torque them properly they never move. And why install a rail? I like the pad though. I had one installed years ago on another 7 mm Mag and it certainly helped so I may do the same with this one. I took it to the range and sighted it in at 200 yds. It does perform like they claim, less than 1 inch MOI, as long as you can keep it steady of course. I also topped it with a Leupold 3x10.

The caliber is .270WSM.
The rail and ring combo is one of the stronger set ups and for the way I handle my weapons in the mountains, cliffs while chasing Barbary sheep, or with all the crawling I do, I needed a VERY strong set up.

Originally I was going to swap the stock ones out with talley lightweight rings, but after lots of reading I chose this set up.

I\'m glad to know they perform as they claim!

Dan, I have to assume that your wife is probably getting tired of that new centerpiece on the kitchen counter. You ever going to go shoot it?? :tease:

I\'ve been dying to go, but it\'s 90 degrees at 6:30 in the morning, over 100 mid day, and still above 90 after the sun goes down......
I\'m waiting for a cold spell....

You should just take it with you on one of your trips to the mountains. Set up a target and go break her in.

I\'m heading to the mountains June 30th through July 4th.... it\'s coming up!

Ok, so today turned into a race with rain storms.
I only got 15 rounds through the gun.

I went three shots
Three shots
Two shots
Two shots
Two shots
Three shots.

First group was the largest group. Everything else was sub 1\" easy.
If I wouldn\'t have been rushing it could have been better.

It\'s just about sighted for 100 yards.
Next time I\'ll tweak a bit and have it dialed in for 200 as a zero and then it\'s game on.

Recoil was beyond managable. I shot it with a tank top on. Felt REAL good.
Just saw how the pictures posted. Top picture was my second set of three rounds from the gun.
Bottom picture was my first three rounds
