Rifle is in.... now we begin....

The picture is sideways, but that group is actually 1.5\" above at 100. I shot a few groups just like that at 100.... all touching...

This thing is SO NICE!

So I went out to 400.... shot two.... and they were 2.5\" apart....
then I handed the gun to my buddy and his two sons... 11 and 15... they each took one shot and nailed steel.....
That was their first time shooting 400 yards and they were PUMPED!

Looks like you have a shooter, Dan... :upthumb: :upthumb: :upthumb:

My Tikka T3 Lite 270 Win will shoot under a inch groups off sandbags at 100 yards shooting Remington Premier 130 gr Swift Scirocco bullets.... :D :D

A little over kill for our whitetail but I would be afraid to shoot a elk with that combo at a reasonable range....

I know a 270 Win is to light for elk...

Why don\'t you try sighting in 3\" hi at 100 yds. That will put you almost dead on at 300. And if you aim at the shoulder hump on an elk, it will drop right in the sweet spot at 400. This works for 40 mm scopes with the cross hairs mounted 1 1/2\" above the bore on a vast majority of elk rifles. It is called the rule of three. And was coined by Kieth Warren back in the 60s.

Just a random factory round?

Sent via Jedi mind trick.

Yes sir. Just some ok grade factory ammo.... 150 gr fusion.
I\'ll try some better stuff once she is fully sighted in.

I honestly wouldn\'t mind that at all, Bill. Honestly I think I would prefer it that way.
This gun is fully capable and holds a very solid trajectory. I would imagine that sighting her in for 300 would be a good route.

Thank you for the tip!

So today I went out and finalized my zero in at 200.
Then I punched in my bullet information into the ballistics calculator I have for my scope and got a read out for each BDC hash.
I then verified each hash and this thing was punching nails.

The final shot I took was 719 yards.... the video I am going to post is my first shot at that range and further shot I have ever taken.
Up until today I had never shot beyond 515 yards.

Well, now he might just start shooting turkeys at 700 yards instead

I am still bow hunting, but it\'s nice to know that when I DO have a rifle hunt that I have something beyond capable.
I\'ve never had this kind of confidence in a rifle or myself shooting a rifle before.

So watch out oryx and Barbary sheep. (Maybe bear too)

As for everything else, FEAR THE MATTHEWS.......to include my wall.... some people will get this.

Just pulled an audible on my tikka. Didn\'t like the eye relief on my scope. I remounted it 1/4\" back. So much better. Unfortunately that means I\'m starting over. The big decision is 100 yard or 200 yard zero...a lot of what I see with moa scopes is a 100 yard zero recommendation. Hmmm...

Just depends what your shot expectations are. If you mount for a 200 yard zero, you don\'t have to worry about bullet drop for quite a ways and you can still aim dead center at 200 yards. Another easy way to do that is to just sight the rifle in for 1\" or 2\" high at 100 yards.
