What did you do today....

Yes fresh Maple Syrup. Mmmmmmm. I have made about half a gallon so far just had french toast with fresh syrup. :D

Yesterday I was out to load wood I had cut. I have not been able to get it out of the woods because of mud, It was 19 degrees so I took advantage. I headed out at 8 am for the first load. By 11 am I loaded 5 heaping truckloads of oak and ash from 12 to 24 inches in diameter, I unloaded 2.5 Too. I then went to my dads at noon to help him cut. We started at 12:15 and had 3 loads cut by 2:15. After we got back to his house from the woods we unloaded his. I then came home and unloaded my other 3 loads. I raked up all the bark from splitting last winter. Finally for some fun time I went to the woods and cleared some trails from fallen limbs and downed trees till dark. I was ready for a shower and the couch after that.

I have trouble finding time to workout but am always busy working hard so I think that counts a little.

I agree Terry, nothing like manual labor for a workout!

Today, Deertick and I sent a few emails back and forth, chatting about tents for our hunt.
3 guys and gear take up some space. John has a 6 man Kifaru tipi but that wont be enough.

So I came home and pulled out my 10x12 wall tent and weighed it... 38lbs
Looks like we will have plenty of room now

Yep, I think the Wall Tent will be very nice ... we\'ll have plenty of room if it rains, and we\'ll have a great back-up if we want a spike camp.

I spent about an hour doing some shooting at unknown distances from 20-40 today ... things are coming together.

Are you guys planning on going in on horseback? I am assuming 38lbs isn\'t an issue if you are using that shiny new truck :D

Well the good news is I am going with an old buddy of mine from Somalia way back in the day.

We have been chatting daily on getting dinners together as well as him wanting a new bow. I start my bow review soon, so he is going to buy one of them. I am going to drive my little Hyundai Sonata to Colorado and ride with him into the high country. Setting up a huge Cabelas outfitter wall tent and his big cook tent. Going to be at about 11,000 feet.

Lumenok is my arrow sponsor for this years review, so we will be shooting some lighted nocks !! Also, Tactacam is going to be a sponsor of the review as well, so will have some cool footage of the hunt.

Now it is planning, planning, and planning. I love this time of year!

what did your buddy think of Somalia?

I was in Uganda and Djaboti last year and it was definitely.... interesting

Let\'s see, I made a doctor\'s appointment to get some orthotics. I can\'t seem to hike with my pack without tearing my feet up. Seems like my left foot turns into one big blister. Maybe something to do with right knee, I don\'t know. I dropped my bow off at the bow shop Saturday. My string, cables and rest came in. Hopefully get that back and tuned up soon. Homework is wearing me slick, it has been so long since I\'ve been in college and I\'m slow. I also pulled my old bike out today for my cycling friend to look at. I think it will need a new chain and cables. I will have some great places to ride when I start my new job.

2 mile walk. I need my interval training. 2 weeks to go and I am free to resume any and all exercise.

Steve, I like the bike riding. It is better on the joints and I feel more of a burn in my thighs biking a hill than I do hiking it with a pack. Bike some hills and you will do fine.

I\'ll tell you what, today got my itching to do some hunting.

On base we have a guys whose job is to kill and harass birds or kill large predatory birds food aka rabbits and small ground hogs.

After a full day of shooting birds with him, I saw a coyote in this little dried up lake bed.
He was about 500 yards away and must have just come out of his den.

Well I put a stalk in on him and snuck up to within 30 yards of him....
There wasn\'t much me and my .177 pellet gun could do, but he got one in the behind :mg:

Sneaking up on him got me all fired up! Is it season yet?

does running around the pasture for an hour trying to catch the weasels count. they have been acting defiant ever since the new horse came on to the scene...... I was sure sweating today......

Is this an euphemism for something? If so. No count!
:D

hahaha. I was trying so hard not to swear, that I completely forgot to put in what I was actually chasing. horses.....

Picked up my bow with new string, cables and rest. She shoots sweet and a little faster. Much more clearance with the rest. I just finished doing a little shooting but ran out of light before I got my pin gaps readjusted. I could tell it\'s been awhile since I\'ve shot. I\'ve got to work that into my regimen now.

Shot bow in basement to practice holding at full draw and form. I only did 5 shots since I am still in under post - op restrictions. New running shoes arrived. Started breaking them in with a little walking. I hope they solve the recent issue with inflamed knees. Did some core exercises.

Yesterday evening, I practiced standing still at 15 yards from a doe while it pondered crossing in front of me. She eventually crossed to join her pal. So good to be back at a house with Mule deer as my neighbors.

Brad made me do it \"Monkey see Monkey Do\"

Other than buying the new truck, just trying to work out when I can and I set up the target yesterday so I can start shooting outside.
