What did you do today....

I have been doing planking for the last couple of days..... not easy!

Yep after a couple minutes I start shaking a little. I am up to 3 minutes now.

I did some arm presses and leg presses. My arms are shaking as I type. Forgot to check the arm weight but the leg presses was 455# about 12 reps. I will start hiking 3 miles with 60-65 lb pack next week.

I was going to shoot bow. but, the middle boy wanted to, so I helped him out, other than that I was packing for Wyoming! terry. I set the timer and it was only 1.48.....

Just got home from shooting a round of 3D league targets at the Ft Collins Archery range with Aaron J and Matt Dworak.
20 targets took 2 hours. A great time and I didnt shoot bad at all!
Fun stuff

I was watching my timer on the phone. its like watching for the mile marker banners in a marathon. to keep myself from getting overwhelmed by how many miles are left, I just take the race 1 mile at a time.

Added my Wife to my evening shooting regimen. Bought her a left-handed Matthews/Mission Riot. This was a picture of her getting started at the local Pro Shop (Thanks Mike for taking the time to give her proper instruction).

25 Years ago when we were dating, we started shooting together...but I didn\'t realize she was left eye dominant (brought up in Catholic school, so she did everything right handed...left hand was \"evil\").

We had the worst time trying to get her sighted in, she finally just gave up. Later on when teaching her to shoot trap, I realized the best solution was to just have her shoot left handed.

I\'m proud of her, he\'s doing great...2 to 3 inch groups with the 20 yard pin, and starting to group at 30. My shooting is improving as well... as well as the results of diet/ exercise. My weight is down, feeling good :D

woohoo, made 2.30 planking!!!!

excellent. i have the core strength of a...(ahh..i got nothing)
i\'m gonna try it at lunch in my office. hehe..i bet a minute is good for me.

Keep it up--planks are excellent! Although they really work your core, if you engage your muscles and focus on good form, you can strengthen almost every part of your body. And all you need is a few minutes and a little snippet of floor space!

Good for her, that\'s awesome! (And yay, another lefty archer!) I\'m glad you were able to get the eye dominance sorted out. For some people, it\'s not a big obstacle, but for others, it makes all the difference in the world. Hopefully you\'ll be showing off her hunting trophies some day, or at least some of her robinhoods!

Chica, I knew you were a finger/bare bow shooter...but I didn\'t know you were a lefty!

I would safely say you are in a HUGE minority (lefty, bare bow, finger shooter, woman)!

nothing wrong with lefties, a south paw here! I just recently found out that my youngest is left eye dominant. he never gave an inclination that he was left handed until he started shooting bb gun. I tried to get him to switch, but he refuses so far, since it is awkward for him..... im not sure what I should do.

Determining to see what eye is dominant is quite simple.

Have the person stand about 8 - 10ft away and tell them to point at your nose, with both eyes open, once with each hand.
You will see that the finger from each hand will line up with their dominat eye.

That\'s what my old shooting instructor did

planking..i think i call them Bridges.

anyways. i just did it. kid you not,i thought i was kicking butt sailing into my first minute..looked it was 22 secs. hah.

at the end it was more about will power than gut strength. i made it to 1:37. i had more, but it was just too uncomfy. i should do it BEFORE i eat my lunch. tomorrow!! i might do this daily!! i feel like i just did a bunch of crunches.

thanks everyone!!

dont swap him.

my mom did. and i am am a mess. i am left eye and right handed. almost ambidextrous, but not quite.

Alright, you guys got me to try it  ...made it to 2:21. I guess all that landscaping has been doing some work on the core! I\'ll take that.

As a side note, you guys are doing this in push-up position, correct? I have also seen people do it on their forearms as well, but then you don\'t get the shoulder workout.

By the way, I am blaming Dan if I wake up sore from that excursion tomorrow morning! Why did you have to go and start a thread that made me go do a plank?

awesome.
i did it on my forearms.

way to go guys, I got a bunch of guys to plank during work!!!!! :angle: I do them on the forearms, that\'s how I was instructed to do it. part of the routine was to also do it on each side. I tried that, it was too uncomfortable.... do a couple reps before bed and you can feel the abs in the am :train:
so how do you shoot bow then? being opposite eye dominant.... should I try to get him to close his left eye? I am not sure if he even can. I know I can hardly keep my opposite eye closed.

Gary, that was my Wife\'s problem...she couldn\'t close her left eye, and if both eyes were open, the left eye took over. An eye patch worked, but that just borders on ridiculous if you\'re trying to hunt.

I still maintain that the most natural solution is to learn to shoot left handed. It\'s working great so far.
