Backpack Hunter said:...at least 8-10 yards....maybe more.
wapiti_will said:Had several opportunities at 80 yards last season and never took a shot (always wanted to close the distance a little more and couldn't), but I don't look back on it and wish I had. I've been really disappointed in some of the shots some other guys in my camp have taken, spending a day trying to unsuccessfully track down a wounded elk really rubs me the wrong way. I think your shot on an animal should feel like a chip shot, if you think you're pushing it....time to let ur down and close the distance. If 80 yards is a chip shot for you and the conditions are perfect...then I guess you could let one fly (just hope you realize the field is not the range and its going to be about a full second for your arrow to reach its mark).
