I have the wife making sure all my hunting stuff is in its assigned boxes. Being 2500 miles away, I can always count on my hunting partner (Wife) to keep things ready.
Make sure you are in shape. Spend a lot of time on google maps and learn your area. I suggest getting a good GPS. The Garmin I have has been a lifesaver.
This year to get prepared for the gym I joined a gym which I go to 3-4 times a week and once the weather gets decent I will be hiking with a weighted pack
I was about 14 when my dad and I got this elk. It was a first for both of us and a very memorable hunt for me because it was the last year my grandpa was able to go elk hunting. He wanted to see it before we cut it up so put him in a sled and pulled him a half mile to where she finally expired (thankfully it decided to snow about 2 inches just before we shot her)
This year I am super excited to maybe have the chance to hunt an earlier season before the rut because usually we hunt otc and have to deal with the firearm Deer season. Lots of people
Tell us what states you applied for this year and what tag you hope for the most: Colorado, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania (points only in WY and MT) Elk; Maine Moose
