2016 Season Workout

Hiking once a week with weight increasing by five pounds each time ... this morning: 65#, which is getting a little heavy.

I have to say, though, that I\'m getting a good feel for my new pack, which handles the weight well.

Shooting before work with focus on follow-through.

Time to start exercising one last muscle before season. The diaphragm. I use an ultrabreathe on the drive to and from work for a month or so prior to season.

Phil, This device is used to exercise the diaphragm too. It is used to help people to help the use the full volume of their lungs. It is used to help stop pneumonia setting in when people take short breaths and are in a bed recovering from some medical treatments. I have used one a friend had from open heart surgery. It is hard to keep the float in the \"best\" position and get the volume meter high.

I had a what can I call it??? :?: :?: Maybe a break through moment today...

For the 1st time since last November I carried our little dog out and put him on his chain, went to the mail box (a 40 or 50 yard one way trip), pickup the rolling trash bin close to the mail box and brought in back to where it normally sets and back in the house.... Set down and waited for the little guy to bark and let me know he was ready to come back inside... When he did I went out a got him and we came back inside.... All this in 105 degree + temperatures and humidity you could cut with a knife...

Not bad BUT I did it all with using any supplemental oxygen!!!!!!! :upthumb: :upthumb:

The bike is working.... Some what slowly but working.... :D :D

Getting my upper body workout in.

This entire trip of me driving my wife down to Florida has been bad! Lacking on the workouts, not shooting enough and LOTS OF FOOD.
I need to get back to NM so I can kill it these last few weeks.

I bet Dan was giving in to temptation and eating the JUNK that is not good for the body. I hate traveling because fast food seems to be the choice.

 Where my daily intake of calories is usually around 2500 calories...
I think since I\'ve been on this trip it\'s.... 4000 or more :silent:

I just need to get home and away from this good food! I also miss my gym!

spent 5 days in Idaho scouting. we hiked in 1.3 miles and camped on the mtn. it was good training for matt, since its his first elk hunt!
i felt pretty good.... but i definitely need to ramp up my workouts, ie- more of them. this new place is much steeper than before

Ran a hilly 16 miles this morning with a couple of buddies who are doing a marathon with me in October. It was a beautiful morning starting out at daybreak and everyone was feeling good. We really picked up the pace the last 4 miles and finished our last mile at a 6:43 pace. No aches, no pains, feeling great!

This afternoon, I\'ll be flinging arrows and tuning in broadheads. 6 weeks and I\'ll be in Colorado!

That\'s amazing Nick! I think you\'ll be okay when you hit the high country.

Thanks guys...best part of the day was shooting broadheads after yoke tuning my bow for a bullet hole thru paper and not having to adjust anything after screwing on a Slick Trick. :upthumb:

45 minutes on eliptical and back workout last night. Ordered some flat back stays for my pack. Hope they get here soon so I can test drive them with some weight.
