2015 BackTrak Outdoors Turkey Contest

And Colt? I might need to bury it in a four leaf clover field to purge the stink we just put on it. Still to fresh to talk about. :(

no birds!!!

some whopper toms that i have never seen were out and about. you know what? none of them were even interested in love. NONE! they would look at my wonderful decoy display, listen to my best attempts at a turkey\'s SIRENS SONG..and walk on by. if a turkey could give us the middle finger i am positive they would have. these guys had BROOMS dragging on the grass. big long spurs!! but apparently these birds have taken some vow of chasity.

we did repeatedly call in a very young bird. zero beard, rendering is NOT a legal kill. it would come to our set up daily.

one day..one bird. a big jake came in..sat still at 14 yards...and my brother missed. MISSED!! i wanted to bonk my little brother on the head, but decided the look on his face indicated \"bad idea\". my turkey blind would make an awful \"thunderdome\".

awesome time tho. we talked and talked. brother bonding.

then today? i cut my thumb with a knife. dished out a hunk of meat. super sharp, so zero pain. a big gusher. i got to work on my one handed FIRST AIDE skills.

(this was not COLT that took a chuck out of me. :))

Sorry to hear that, Cliff.

My vote is you go get one of those big boys to make up for the cut thumb :upthumb:

one more grand swing at the same spot. taking my luckiest of lucky charms. my wife!! she just wants to go and hang out in a turkey blind with me. maybe because i\'ll be a captive audience and we can talk about or feelings and stuff.

whatever..i\'ll take it!!

next weekend, i\'ll hit the winery and hope i get a dumb bird. hahaha..

No turkeys on the board yet....

This is going to get interesting here soon when 5 of us are hunting in Kansas for them

I hope Will is able to pull something off too. Seems like you have some cool birds up there

i\'m gonna take another crack at them.

my knife injury on thumb is better..it\'s healed to the point i dont have to obsess about infection prevention.

i need to hit up Kansas. i have some farming friends. an Eastern would be a good thing for me. i\'d go this weekend, but a buddy just bought a brand new 21 foot bass-boat, and the spring spawn is going full swing. hahah..fishing time!! i havent been on a bass boat since i moved to CA. this is going to be fun!

Ok folks.... it\'s game time!

Kansas trip is coming up here REAL soon.....

:upthumb: :upthumb: :upthumb:

well done!!!

i had the biggest tom of my life trot by sunday. my buddy whispers to me..\"30 yards\".

pftt..i got this. i put the pin on the bird and let it fly. it hit exactly where the bird was just moments ago. to this day, i wonder why i didnt lead it just a smidge...

shooting at a moving bird was dumb..very dumb. but watching that beard drag along the ground evaporated any and all of my smarts.

Here\'s a two year old from this morning. First two mornings I hunted some new ground with my cousin. Seen several hunters and it was very windy. Hunted some of my old spots this morning. It was raining until almost daybreak. This little guys stayed on the limb until 7:10. He gobbled quite a bit. I got pretty close to him and hit him with some cuts after he finally decided to hit the ground. He was lonely. Hopefully I can find one for my son this weekend. He was a young bird but a decent beard. 9.5 beard and 5/8 spurs.

Nice bird Steven. Glad you found time to make it out. Yes the wind has sucked the last few days. Birds are quiet around here.
