2015 BackTrak Outdoors Turkey Contest

It was unreal. We set up under three roost trees in the pitch black of night. At 6 am it was like B-52\'s landing. All giant toms. I got busted by a toad!! It tucked and ran. But with 20 toms around one would come to my hen decoy. 6:15am the bird I shot stopped at 20 and I unloaded my grim reaper at him. He did a somersault and died. Wow. We got a crap iPhone vid of the whole craziness.

Well the stats are 26# with a 9.5 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. I think he must have been a young bird.

Even better that you found the shrooms.

I shot this jake the first night. I wanted to bring something home so there was less pressure on me for the second tag to be filled. especially with the cruddy forecast of the next few days....

got this guy on sat, in the rain, again..... I actually chased him and his smaller minion around all day. he was the boss of the field that day, chasing the other jake and 2 hens around. I was able to get him to gobble and come back into the field a couple hours later after he followed the hens out to their nesting spot. they came back and stayed in the middle of the field. I had go around and sneak in to cut them off as they were leaving the field at the opposite end. I had to army crawl to get within 40 yards. its amazing how much a couple days of rain dampens the spirits. I was hoping to hold off for a bigger one, but my story with this guy was pretty cool to me.
