It was a rough hunt but not that bad, Dude I am 8 years older and had no problems to speak of. Just a little back pain which I am taking care of by working on my core. I love doing push-ups and they work. I also like my lunges to strengthen the legs.

Honestly unless you just can\'t give it up.....STOP RUNNING. Sorry. Hope I didn\'t make ya mad. It is hard on the knees if done a lot and for a long term. Just my opinion and I want you to be in great shape next year so throw a few pounds in that pack and WALK the streets in your town. I am sure I saw a few hills.

I am amped up for my mule deer hunt.
This terrain is ruthless and I might see some snow!!!! :upthumb:

Today was minor stretching and a small arm workout.
I am ready for tomorrow. :upthumb:

Good luck Dan...

I was able to knock out 12-15 mile hikes everyday without strain.
This was with my heavy pack on and with the addition of some sheds here or there.

With that being said, it reminds me of why I do this and why I plan ramp it up even more for next year :D

awesome terry!!!! I guess I haven\'t been on here for a few days..... kinda been busy here on my end.....
terry, youre making me feel bad :D
but..... I have been chugging along with my mild workouts, and am happy to say..... the scale said 174

That is great. Where were you before and are you maintaining weight or losing?

I am down another 7 or 8 pounds.

It is pretty easy for me to stay in shape when I have a goal. My goal is to be able to elk hunt into my 70s. I am not trying to run marathons but I want to continue to add cardio ability, add muscle, lose weight and ultimately kill and elk with my bow. :p

I went to the chiro to get my shoulder back in place. It was getting sore with all the push-ups. I gave it 2 days rest and will be back to the workouts on Monday. I had a good leg workout tracking a deer my son shot. We walked through tall grass and a foot of snow. That white crap is hard to walk in. Reminds me of hills of sage brush. Yuck!

I hope you found the deer!

He hit a yearling high. We gave it 2 hours then tracked it to his first bed that had good blood in it. Then further to where he was laying in his second bed. We jumped him and followed him on a 1/4 mile loop where he headed back to where we jumped him. Decided to give him till tomorrow and look some more just to be sure. He shot through the loins I believe. The deer should be ok but I will check the trail some more just in case.

Nice little shoulder workout and 50 push ups to start off my morning!

Tonight will be a run, 3 mile walk with the wife, then core.

sorry mark, I just saw this.....
a little history. I usually have been running around 195 for a bunch of years. I had been getting heavier each winter for the last few. I hit my peak at 213 2 winters ago..... that sucked! and I vowed to never let that happen. during the summer I can lose weight and have gotten down to 185 the two prior elk seasons. this year, I kicked it up!!!!! I started at 194 and was able to get to 176 for elk season. I came back from Idaho at 175. its been 2 months now and I am at 173. my goal for next elk season is to be in the 160s.
my knees were sore for a while when I got back, terry and I went up and down a lot of steep stuff in Idaho. so I have only been doing situps and pushups. I have only recently started doing the insanity workouts with the wife, even then they were only partials.... I almost did a complete one last night, man am I sore....
my wife has been kicking butt, she has lost 45 pounds!!!! so I have been having some motivation!

That is great. I came back from WY around 252. I am at 242 now. The lightest I have been since high school was 232. In reality I am not much bigger than that now as I have packed on more muscle than before. Good luck and tell your wife congrats.

That\'s awesome, good work!

Keep in mind you might hit a point where you start gaining ... but its muscle you\'re gaining, not fat.
ryan, you are absolutely correct! that\'s why I didn\'t want to make a specific number for a goal. I still have some soft spots to that will easily get me into the 160s, if and when the muscle comes in, 170 would be a nice weight.... but im not that young anymore
oh, and another insanity workout completed!

Just finished a walk with my wife (I had a weighted pack) and then did some core workouts!!! :upthumb:

terry will be proud, 305 sit ups today along with some bow shooting, and bicycling....!
