2016 Season Workout

did my Mr Miyagi work out.

painting. installed a 20 foot beam, and had to paint it. then sanded kitchen cabinet shelves. i am sore. and i need sleep.

tonight, riding my bike home from the office and doing nothing.

I keep forgetting to post, but I have been on this like crazy!

Yesterday was arms, cardio, and shooting.

Today is back, core, cardio, and more shooting.

Mondays...back workout...pull ups, rows, and dead lift
Tuesday...Legs...squat, press, calves, followed by cardio
Wednesday...Chest...incline press, flat bench, and decline flys
Thursday...cardio (usually eliptical, then 1 mile treadmill on a 6% incline, followed by stair stepper machine)
Friday...core and do one excersice from back, leg, and chest
Saturday and Sunday...short (2mile) to long (6+ miles) depending on time hikes with 25 lb weighted pack

Started this routine back in January...it\'s been a year or two since I have been in a gym on a regular basis, but really enjoying getting back in the routine...goal is to cut 15 more lbs by the start of bow season. Feeling good and really starting to see the strength gains in workouts, but seeing the most improvement during weekend hikes.

Seeing Charlie and Dan\'s workout makes me reconsider meeting them in CO for a hiking/scouting weekend!

I may need bring along a satellite phone so I can call in coordinates for an extraction!! :)

I may need the same!! In all seriousness, the one thing I learned from last year is that I was way under prepared. I\'m not a small guy...6\' 1\" was 230-240 last season, and didn\'t struggle on any single day hunt. Was able to hunt hard when necessary and able to cover the ground and territory I planned on, but what I noticed was that the cumulative days hunting took its toll. My goal this year is to hit the mountains around 220-230 (not much weight difference...for my frame that is about right), but in a lot better condition to recover and recoup quickly. That way when I need to pack out that monster 380\" bull taken on the 7th consecutive day of hunting I\'m not sending out an :help2:

Charlie, we\'re close in size(6\'4\" 220) and I plan on being close to 205 come archery season. If I\'m any heavier, hopefully it\'s from losing fat and adding back muscle. I too went in last year a little out of shape for a long season. My \"excuse\" was hunting private property out of tree stands and never walked more than 1/2 mile. Likely not the case this coming fall so hitting gym and hiking much more than last year. Got a gym in our building so no real excuse.

Biggest reason is for myself and family. Dad\'s failing health is all the motivation I need! Add in the great outdoors and possibility at an elk and I should be working out every day!!

solid hunt partners are worth weight in gold when the elk goes from animal to food..

that\'s a real incentive for me to stay fit. i dont want to be the \"weak link\" hahha..

and you can sneak rocks into their packs. health nuts.

jujitsu again yesterday. and on top of that, shoveled out 13 3-5 foot, 5 year old scotch pines for transplanting to the new ranch today.......

I switched to the new BeachBody workout called \"Hard Corps 22\" ... a basic calisthenic-type workout that takes 20-30 minutes per day. Those of you looking for something to do quickly before work should take a look. I still throw in some P90x3 routines that are more centered on resistance to keep some strength, and some yoga for down days, but overall, I think it\'s pretty well-done as a program that can get you into decent elk-shape in a couple months.

But ... I\'m taking next week off completely since I won\'t be able to exercise at all after my cataract operation.

I\'ve still been hitting the gym three days a week. Would like to drop a few pounds, which hasn\'t happened yet, but the body is feeling good...

Legs, core, cardio and shot my bow for 2 hours!

Results are blasting through and I love it!!
BRING ON THE HUNTING SEASON :mg:

Arms, core, and cardio!

Yes!!!!
Once upon a time there was an old bull and young bull up on a hill watching a bunch of cows!
The young bull sprinted down to get him some cow love, but the old bull never took a step......

..... because I climbed up a nasty cliff and shot him with my bow!
