2016 Season Workout

I\'ve been working on neglected household duties recently ... painting the deck, fixing the sprinkler system, etc. Still have been sneaking in a mile or so with my 60 pound pack on at lunch, but I need to turn it up a notch. I think the biggest thing I could do would be to get up earlier so I\'m not doing my hike in 85 degree temps!

Tell me about it. My wife (and I somewhat ;) ) have decided to sell our house. I have painted shutters, doors, front porch columns, basement entrance, edged, mulched, shoveled gravel, mowed and weedeated for about the last 3 weeks. This coupled with my hunting money job of mowing grass has kept me busy. I mow 8 or 9 lawns a week depending on whether I can con someone into mowing the lawn at the church or not. Thank God we have a wellness program at work where I get paid to exercise or it would be hard for me to get much done in the way of training. Yesterday I did 45 minute workout +5 min cool down on the eliptical machine and then did some squats.

Another 3 mile run/walk with 20lbs of dumbbells this morning.

Reminded me of elk hunting

45 minutes of cardio and chest workout this morning. Went for a 20 mile bike ride last night. Legs are feeling like wet noodles after this morning, but my recovery rate seems to be getting better and better

I\'ve been working out everyday for ages. Usually rotating from treadmill to stationary bike to rowing machine. I need to since I\'m old, 63. I\'m fortunate to work where they installed a five story staircase that goes up 52.5\' with its 69 steps. It is outdoors and I\'ve been climbing this since late march and for a while with a 20lb pack on. I arrive early and before I clock in, I climb. A couple of weeks ago I had climbed it like 21 times, a fellow worker says you trying to climb the Sears tower.
So I looked into it, The Willis(sears) tower is occupied to 1353\' and has 2109 steps. Its step spacing is 7.698 inches, while ours is 9.04. Ours is a steep staircase at a 48 degree slope.
The tallest building in the world, The Burj Khalifa in Dubai is occupied to 1918\' and using the Willis Tower step spacing would have 2990 steps.

So I come up with a goal, which I completed this morning. I climbed up and down our stairs 48 times. A total of 3312 steps up and 3312 steps down. The total height I would\'ve gained is 2520\' and I did it just under 1 hr 33 minutes. I did not wear my weighted pack on this climb.

Now I\'ll go back to 15 to 20 trips each morning.

Good luck to everybody with their workouts
Dan

dkbs ... that is impressive ... can\'t think anything other than that you will do fine in the hills.

Today was more digging and raking. Those shovels of sand are heavy. My back is sore and I have blisters. Two more days of this workout then on to another job.

Heading up to the mountains again today and wont be back until Sunday.
I\'m gonna try something a little different and wake up every morning, do my run, push-ups and sit-ups, THEN go for my hikes! :upthumb: :upthumb:

A lot of calories will be burned this weekend. :train:

Yesterday when I got up to the cabin I went for a mile run. It\'s interesting how running at 4400 ft compared to 8600 ft can make a fool of you ;)

Woke up this morning and did a 5 mile hike with the wife and in-laws.
I had a feeling they were gonna go slower than my liking so I added about 60lbs to my pack. :train:

Tonight will be push ups and sit ups, then if the rain lets up I\'ll go for another run.
