2016 Season Workout

Working HARD the last 4 days. Today more raking and digging and I should be done.I will be happy to be done with this job. My right leg has been numb from the knee down since Friday evening. Annoying! I will be glad when it comes back to life. I did out work a couple of guys 20 and 30 years younger than me. :haha: :train: :haha:

that\'s funny terry!
16 miles on the road bike, in the nasty heat.....

Chicago Spartan Super yesterday with a great group of friends! 8.5 miles of mostly mud after tons of recent rain, 27 obstacles, and mid 90\'s heat! Took just under 4 hours. One of the best beers I ever had at the end!

The heat here has me a/c bound for the time being.. I only get out at night and early in the morning to walk the dog and do my bike ride which is not in an a/c building... But still doing the bike when the room next door is cooler... May have to stop when it gets too hot and stays that way in the bike building... :( :(

I just can\'t stand hot and humid anymore... :downthumb: :downthumb:

I had a great workout this weekend!
Ran in the mountains, hiked with heavy packs, cut woods... feeling good and READY FOR ELK SEASON!!!

I think your weekend sounded a LOT more fun!

I have a pt test this week or next, so I\'ve just been doing practice PT tests everyday.
Push ups, sit ups, and running. After I am done I\'ll hit the gym HARD again.

I threw in a killer back workout today, pushups, core, ran, walked and shot my bow for an hour! :train: :mg:

Chest and cardio this morning...got my max bench to 245 lb at 6 reps. Feeling good strength wise, but still wanting to drop some more pounds before September.

At week 5 now of going to the gym before work every day. Never done such a thing before... feeling good! I alternate chest/triceps, cardio/core, biceps/shoulders, cardio, legs/back, cardio/core, repeat. Throwing in some hiking/other activity on weekends so I am feeling good about my fitness at this rate come hunting season.

Riding my bike to work is having a negative affect. It sucks just enough energy from me to keep me from doing anything else. Like jogging.

I\'m running up a 7% grade 1.5 miles on weekends. It sucks!!!!\'

I walk back down to save knees.

Riding the bike works the legs and is much easier on the knees than jogging. If you want more of a workout ride up hills. My legs burn more riding up a hill than walking it with a loaded pack. Save your knees.

Still on vacation in NC. Eating everything in sight but I have been working out every day hard. Cardio every day and weights for one muscle group. It is hard to eat even decent on vacation so at least I am exercising.

I decided to start a new thread like Dan\'s \" What did you do today\".

I started my 2016 workout in October. I had pain in my upper back this year elk hunting and knew I needed to work on my core. I started the first exercise with push-ups. I did 300 the first day. Wow! I hurt everywhere. My triceps hurt my sides and my abs really hurt. I waited a week to heel from that and did 200 the next time I exercised. That didn\'t feel so bad and things were healing. I waited a few days and did 350. I felt the tightness in the muscles but no pain like the first time. On Monday the 19th I set my goal at 400. I managed to squeeze out 425 :D

I have added some lower body workouts to get me up the mountain a little quicker. Today I started with lunges. I decided on them instead of squats because the knee is only bent 90 degrees in a lunge and less chances of hurting the knee. I did my lunges with a 25 lb dumbbell in each hand. My goal is 200 on each leg. I am up to 50 so far. :)

Next year I plan on being in my top elk hunting shape ever. I am also going to get into ultralight gear and minimal gear, Thanks Gary :upthumb:

If that gets too boring try increasing the weight and lowering the reps. It will also help build muscle faster.
