2016 Season Workout

Well, I did a fast-paced 2 miles at 10,000+\' yesterday ... which is what you do, when you have to run back to the pickup when your ATV is stuck and you need 6\' more of rope to reach a tree and your wife is waiting patiently. (This on top of a 2 mile hike shortly before, with some elevation change).

Actually, it went well ... certainly pushed it to higher RPMs, but my \"engine\" handled well.

Tomorrow ... 50# back pack takes a walk in the morning to feed the mosquitoes.

shot bow and did truck projects in preparation for our big horns trip in 2 weeks! plus the usual farm stuff :D

This ride red lines my heart daily. The climb is steady and steep. I huff and puff up the thing bunny hopping rocks. My knees love it. I did crash and hit my knee hard.

Don\'t crash and hit your head!

Tuesday evening I shot the bow a little then hiked 3 miles with 30lb pack. It took me 46 minutes. I roofed from 7am till 8pm Wednesday and was beat by the end of the day. Back and knees sore. I am ready for the 3 day weekend. I plan on working on the hunting truck Saturday evening while I watch the Nascar race. :D

That bike looks bad ass. I have a road bike and there is nothing that burns the quads more than standing up in high gear and pumping up long hills.

Oh, the irony of getting a bike to save your knees then crash and wreck them anyway! Dang it!

Every day this week I have been prepping for the meat haul portion of the Train To Hunt challenge in two weeks. I have loaded a 75lb sandbag in the pack and speed rucked for 2 miles. Day one I did it in 24:39. The rest of them I have taken it a bit easier at 28-29 mins. I hope to be able to do 22-23 when I really push it. In addition, I do 100 push-ups and shoot my bow. 3 arrows at 50 yds, sprint to target and retrieve. Repeat 10 times. Legs aren\'t feeling great today. Plan to do it again after work and take the wkd off.

Even the 28-29 minutes is good time with 75lbs. You will do fine packing out your elk. :upthumb:

Yeowa! You guys would be great hunt partners. My friends I won\'t hunt w anymore. They do not prep.

Is this the deal Mt. Ops puts on?

Walked about 7 miles, crushed a chest workout, did 100 push ups, core, shot my rifle and my bow.

Can I just hunt now!

Still been hitting the gym pretty consistently. Hit the mountains for a quick scouting trip yesterday and covered quite a bit of ground and felt great. It\'ll be here soon!
