I noticed RClary just joined the forum and has made one post. Also, I am surprised there are no pictures of the two elk taken. :dk:
Oddly enough it is the Outfitters first post also........
What is the greatest distance that you know elk have traveled from water or food to bedding?
I have seen them travel nearly 3 miles from a mountain bedding area to low river bottom (creek) and back before daylight. They can cover a long distance over night.
If you wanted to go into an area in the evening and stay the night; to avoid climbing a steep, noisy, difficult mountain in the dark, what would you take?? What would you need?
Sleep pad, sleeping bag, 5x7 tarp, two trek poles, water, protein bars, pistol, head lamp, game bags
By adding more...
Most states are now requiring the skulls to be cleaned before transporting out of state kills into the state to prevent the spread of CWD. What process and tools are being used in camp for the process of cleaning. Puts a hunter in a bad spot if you kill an animal the last day of the hunt and you...
How come we don't have an Eastern Elk Calling Contest. Everyone I see is out West. Not enough Eastern elk hunters to make it worth while? Maybe the Eastern winners can meet the Western winners half way and have a sponsored Championship. Just a thought waiting on my time to elk hunt.
This question is about Colorado but could apply to other states. Rumor has it that Colorado is Hot and Dry this fall. The DRY part is the most concerning to me. The grass fields have died and have been cut already. I am certain some farmers have watered the fields and some will still be of...
In order to go as light as possible on a September archery elk hunt, for an overnight or two nights hunt, what would you carry??
6x8 tarp, sleeping bag, sleep pad, water purification system, food that does not require cooking, game bags
Could you do it with this list? What food would be good...
I have recently added a B-Stinger 8? stabilizer to my bow. It is now an extremely tight fit in my bow case and I need to get another bow case or a ?quick disconnect?. What is the best quick disconnect to purchase and or other best option???

How many of you hear bugles in your sleep??
Just kidding, sort of; do you bugle at night or early before daylight to locate bulls?? How effective is it?
I have the Molle ACU Pack and use it for elk backpack trips. Anyone using one? I recently figured out the pack can detach from the frame and allow meat bags to ride between pack and frame. Anyone used one like that?
Anyone using pop-up blinds?
Found a place that the elk are passing through every morning but they are of course moving into the wind which causes my scent to hit them before they get to me and you know what that does. I am thinking a blind would help to prevent my scent from going downwind and...
As the season progresses it would be good to hear where the elk are bugling and what the rut is doing.
I was just told that elk have been bugling for the last week in North Central Colorado. Any others hearing or seeing any activity in Colorado?
I think listing as north west, north central...
I look at all sorts of maps for Colorado and see where many roads go through small sections of private property and back onto public land. What's the rules for traveling through the private? Is there a map that clearly shows what roads are allowed to cross?
Can you park on the side of the...
I have used a water bladder in my day pack for several years and plan to continue. Planning on doing a few backpack trips for several days and the bladder inside my pack just doesn't seem to work. I use a small pack and plan on going ultra lite with gear. I will carry a Pro Hiker or maybe a...
